Hinsdale/Nashua’s football team
as the Dawgs shutout Columbus
in a home contest, 46-0 Saturday.
Now it’s on to Manhattan where
the Dawgs — who hit the road
this morning with a Glasgow Fire
Truck Escort — will take on the
Manhattan/Manhattan Christian
Tigers Saturday.
Manhattan (10-0) is no
strangers to the playoffs. The Tigers
played for the championship last
year, losing to Eureka 20-6. The
Tigers have made the playoffs six
straight years.
Glasgow’s pass defense will
need to step up as the Tigers like to
throw the ball. Quarterback Caden
Holgate threw for 142 yards and four
touchdowns in the 50-0 win over
Malta/Whitewater/Saco/Dodson.
Manhattan opened the playoffs with
a 52-0 win over Colstrip.
On the other hand the Tigers

total yards with 86 in the air. Quarterback Caden Meier
was 9 for 23 passing for 86 yards. Trey Johannes had 10
carries for 50 yards and Colby Martinez 6 catches for 55
yards.
Turnovers hampered the teams in their first
possession with Glasgow fumbling the ball after getting
to the Columbus 39. But the Cougars lost the handle
on the Dawgs 40 with Hallock recovering. Both squads
punted on their next possession, in fact, the quarter
went without any score.
The Dawgs defense came up with a great play when
Mayson Phipps blocked the Cougars punt just before
the first quarter ended that would set up Glasgow’s first
score of the game.
Glasgow took over on the Cougars 35, marching
down field for a Lee 5-yard touchdown with 11:18 to
play in the first half. The senior from Hinsdale ran to
the31 where Hallock took over for two rushes to the 16.

Columbus fumble, returning it to the 16 on a 29 yard

scored his second PAT run.
Phipps continued his onslaught on the Cougars,
sacking Meier for a 4-yard loss. The senior then blocked
another Columbus punt. But Glasgow gave the ball
back when Martinez intercepted Idler’s pass. Four plays
later the Dawgs defense stopped Columbus when the
Cougars faked the punt and failed to complete a pass for
a first down.
Glasgow took over on the 40, moving to the 2 when
Hallock fumbled the ball. However, the Dawgs scored
on the Cougars first play when Idler ripped the ball out
of Johannes hands and took it in for a 6-yard TD for
a 22-0 lead with 4:16 to play in the half. The PAT run
failed.
Hallock tackled Martinez for an 8 yard loss to give
Glasgow the ball back. The Dawgs took over at the 48,
marched down field on seven plays when Idler followed
Phipps into the end zone for a 4-yard touchdown with
19 seconds left in the half. Hansen ran in the two-point
conversion for a 30-0 score.
The Dawgs defense held Columbus to 17 total
yards in the first half, while putting up 148 yards.
Glasgow scored on its first two possessions in the
second half with a running clock. Sand had a 32-yard run
with 6:05 to play in the quarter with Hansen scoring the
conversion. Then with 8:37 left in the game Hansen capped
an 11-play drive with a 9-yard TD ran with Aune blocking.
Hallock capped off the scoring with the conversion run.
The Dawgs defense didn’t allow Columbus into the
red zone. The closest the Cougars got was to the 40 of
Glasgow.
