3.1 EGBS Functions


Enhanced GE Base Switch board (EGBS) performs the following functions:
l Implements ECMM functions
ECMM module adopts ATCA standard, responsible for board power-on and version
loading. Also, it monitors shelf environment, including the power, temperature, and
fan status.
l Implements inter-shelf control plane switching
Provides control plane GE interface to all service slots and rear switching slots, and
inter-shelf cascading GE interface
l Provides external network port for front bade.

3.2 EGBS Panel Structure

ON for 0.1 second and OFF for 0.1 second
• Periodical flashing at 2 Hz:The period is 0.5 second with the 50% duty ratio. That is, the indicator is
ON for 0.25 second and OFF for 0.25 second
• Periodical flashing at 1 Hz:The period is 1 second with the 50% duty ratio. That is, the indicator is
ON for 0.5 second and OFF for 0.5 second
• Periodical flashing at 1 Hz:The period is 1 second with the 90% duty ratio. That is, the indicator is
ON for 0.9 second and OFF for 0.1 second
• Periodical flashing at 0.5 Hz:The period is 2 second with the 50% duty ratio. That is, the indicator is
ON for 1 second and OFF for 1 second

Note:
ECMM subcard is located on EGBS, managing the power supply for the boards in the
shelf. ECMM switchover and reset is independent of EGBS switchover and reset.
