Fidel
A Short film by Josh Richardson
INT. ZIONS BEDROOM – LATE AFTERNOON
ZION is awoken by his phone ringing, he wakes up looking
confused and dazed. He looks straight (into the camera)
before rubbing his eyes. He picks up the phone and looks
puzzled.
He reads the text on the phone, before suddenly looking up (at
the camera) and looking shot, the camera zooms into his face

EXT. ALLEY WAY – AFTERNOON

ZION walks nervously down the alley, cautiously looking all
around him- when he sees it is all clear he stops. Looking
very carefully at the bush before reaching his calm carefully
and feeling around inside it. He looks confused for a second
before looking into the bush and pulling out a taped up bag.
ZION mischievously smiles, even putting his finger into is
revealing it to be a bag or narcotics. ZION puts it into his
jacket and walks away.

EXT. FRONT PORCH – AFTERNOON

Zion puts the bag outside on his bin, as he searches himself
for his keys, getting aggravated by it, he slams the door in
anger, leaving the narcotics on the bin.

INT. ZIONS BEDROOM – LATE AFTERNOON

Flashback ends and ZION is in shocked, gets off of the bed in
a hurry and starts to breathe heavily in panic. He sprints out
of the room.

EXT. FRONT PORCH – LATE AFTERNOON

ZION rushed to open the door in search of the bag. As he opens

the door he sees that they are no longer there, after staring
at where he left them for a few seconds he rubs his face,
looking panicked and shocked, before slowly walking back
inside and looks hopeless.

INT. ZIONS HOUSE – FRONT ROOM – LATE AFTERNOON

Zion looks hopeless. He is scared that he has lost the bag,
and slowly slides down the door and looks extremely sad and
distressed. After holding his head in his hands he looks up to
see a ‘Get well soon’ card, addressed to his mother Miche.
This reminds Zion he needs the money from narcotics to support
him and his mother, and this reminder gives him a fresh hope.

INT. ZIONS HOUSE – KITCHEN – LATE AFTERNOON

Zion rushes into the kitchen, trying to recreate the bag of
narcotics, He pulls down a bag of flower and gazes at it, as a
new wave of optimism swarms him. He puts his fingers into the
flour the same way he did to the narcotics earlier, making it
look similar, He smiles as he feels this will be enough to buy
him some time to either find the original narcotics or hide
from FIDEL. He makes a faked bag with the flour and notices
his phone going off again – this time it is FIDEL telling him
to get to the drop off point. ZION quickly swipes everything
into the bag as he sets of to find the drop off point.

EXT. DROP OFF POINT ALLEY WAY – EVENING

ZION looks around cautiously, breathes heavily as his heart is
pounding, he’s extremely nervous as to whether or not FIDELS
MEN are going to fall for it. After spending some time looking
around, ZION places the backpack down before quickly running
off to hide as he hears one of FIDELS MEN come to collect the
faked narcotics, he takes cover as quickly as possible.
FIDELS MAN approaches the bag and carefully opens it,
revealing the bag of faked drugs. Like ZION in earlier scenes,
he puts his finger into it to see the quality, however
straight after doing so he makes a confused sound and Zion
peaks around too see FIDELS MAN inspecting the flour bag Zion
had used to fake the drugs. FIDELS MAN scruffles the bag up

and aggressively throws it onto the floor, this causes ZION to

panic, and he tries to make a run for it.

EXT. ROAD – EVENING

As ZION sprints down the street an armed FIDEL’S MAN follows
straight after him, holding a firearm and pointing it towards
(the cameras direction)and firing it twice.
