PRESENTATION OF THE RESULTS

The results of the data gathered to achieve the objective of the study. The
data were taken from the phone-audio recorded of the in-depth interviews
with the three (3) Senior High School students who were having challenges
with stress management. The recordings were manually transcribed and
translated into English. Moreover, a brief background of each participant
was described in this chapter.
Through the process of identifying significant statements from each
transcript of interviews to formulation of meanings and clustering of themes
that establish the surfaced patterns, themes were formulated.
There is one theme emerged in studying the multiple struggles of students
towads stress management. On the other hand, there is one emerged theme
on when the students consider their struggles as a form of stress. And one
theme for their ways of coping with the identified struggles. The evaluation
was based on the researcher’s perspective through their answers to the in-
depth interviews.
The succeeding discussion presents the results of the study as extracted
from the interviews.

CASE 1

Romina, (not hear real name), is a grade-11 student from section

Fleming. She graduated Elementary at Nuro Central Elementary School .
Before the conduct of the in-depth interview, the interviewee was willing
to be part of the research because she knows that through participating she
could lend us some help. Because of that, the researchers gave her short
orientation on the purpose and importance of the research and her as one of
the participants to let her know more with the significance of the study. She
then agreed and confirmed for the interview.
After all the retrieval of the documents mentioned, the researchers
scheduled for an in-depth-interview. The interview was done in a closed
room wherein the assigned researcher and the participant were the only one
in there.
Multiple Struggles of Students Towards Stress Management

When she was asked about her struggles towards stress management,
she answered,
‘’yang kunyari halimbawa sa ano, sa mga projects ko, I-ano ko pa
yan siya, i-tambak ko pa yan siya, antayin ko pa gud ang deadline
bago magpass” for example, my project is piled up. I'll wait for the
deadline before I start doing it (Lines 20-25 , Transcript 1).

bago magpass” for example, my project is piled up. I'll wait for the deadline
before I start doing it (Lines 20-25 , Transcript 1), shows that the participant’s
struggles were primarily caused by her projects which she chosed to delay
doing them.
This is supported by Fairbrother and Warn (2003) telling that some of the
common stressors reported in an academic setting including excessive
assignments, poor time management and social skills, peer competition, etc.

When they Consider their Stress as a Form of Stress

When she was asked when does she consider her struggles as a form of
stress, she exclaimed
“kung maggawa na ako yan ng project ko agad-agaran na yan siya,
tapos ano gud, pagpuyatan ko yan siya, di yan ako matulog tas pagdating
sa school ano na yan ako lutang, ganyan” if I am doing my projects and
stayed-up all night when I'm at school I am spacing out (Lines 37-41
, Transcript 1).
There are these kind of students that procrastinate a lot and then suffer later.
This participant then consider it as a stress when it causes her to lost the ability
of time management which leads to having not enough sleep that will cause her
to have a hard time paying attention in class.
Noland et al., (2009) concluded that these young people report that the impact of
the loss of sleep is difficulty paying attention, lower grades, higher stress, and
trouble getting along with other people. Some students reported problematic
coping strategies such as taking sleeping pills, smoking cigarettes and drinking
alcohol to help them sleep.

Ways of Coping with Stress as a Student they find the Most Effective

The first participant’s answer to this is

“gina adjust ko na lang yang kunyari mag ano ako...Ngayong araw,

ganito ang gawin ko, sunod araw dapat matapos ko na yan siya.
Ganon. Tapos parang, para hindi na rin ako mastress, parang
ginabago ko na rin yung routine ko ngayon. Ano yang diba
halimbawa, may deadline...may deadline next week, dapat matapos
ko na siya this week, ganon.” I just adjust. I keep to my mind what I
need to finish for a certain day. Then it will turn out that I’m not
stressed anymore. I just changed my routine especially in terms of
deadlines for my requirement. (Lines 70-78, Transcript 1).

As she stated above fighting the temptation to procrastinate by adjusting and

changing one’s routine helps the said student to finish her tasks. Through this
she can cope with her stress in terms of preventing her stressors to fill her
system.

CASE 2

Cassie, (not her real name), is a grade 11-Chadwick. She graduated

Elementary at Pedro C. Dolores Elementary School, that is located in Nangi,
Upi, Maguindanao.
Prior to the conduct of the in-depth interview, the interviewee didn’t show
much emotion and just accept the researchers’ invitation. Because of that,
the researcher just gave her short orientation on the purpose and
importance of the research and her as one of the participants. Eventually,
she the people involved looked forward to the interview.
After all the retrieval of the documents mentioned, the researcher
scheduled for an in-depth-interview. The interview was done in the school
library wherein the assigned researcher and the participant were the only
one in there.

Multiple Struggles of Students Towards Stress Management

When she was asked about her struggles towards stress management,
she gave her viewpoint,
“ siguro yung pag influx ng requirements and sabay sabay pa talaga”
maybe the influxion of requirements and it is even done
simultaneously (Lines 22-23, 26-27, Transcript 2).
The statement above “siguro yung pag influx ng requirements and sabay
sabay pa talaga” maybe the influxion of requirements and it is even done
simultaneously (Lines 22-23, 26-27, Transcript 2), reveals that the influxion of
requirements has really something to do with the struggles of certain
students.

When they Consider their Stress as a Form of Stress

When she was asked when she consider her struggles as a from of
stress, she answered,
“ Siguro pag hindi ko na siya ma take in parang ganon.” Maybe when
I can’t take it in anymore (Line 42-43 , Transcript 2)
The statement above”siguro

Ways of Coping with Stress as a Student they find the Most Effective

She shared her coping meachanism by stating,

“So ang gigawa ko maybe di mo lang talaga siya as in di ka lang mag

overthink. Parang always look na may ano pa may positive side just nag
So what I did is that maybe just do not overthink. Maybe
just always look on the positive side and be optimistic that it will just
passed by (Lines 67-72 , Transcript 2).

CASE 3

Marga, (not her real name), is a grade-12 student from section

Leeuwenhoek . She graduated Elementary at Nuro Central Elementary
School. The interviewee was calm and excited to be part of the research
prior to the conduct of the in-depth interview because she can really relate
to the study. But then she keeps on asking if she can use her prefered
language. Because of that, the researchers gave her the assurance and
thus looked forward for her participitation.. Eventually, she confirmed for the
interview.
After all the retrieval of the documents mentioned, the researchers
scheduled for an in-depth-interview. The interview was done in a certain
classrom wherein the assigned researcher and the participant were the only
one in there.

Multiple Struggles of Students Towards Stress Management

“Yung kumbaga yung struggles ko is yung mga requirements

na naga sabay sabay then yung, marami kasing responsibilities” My
struggles are dealing with my requirements and responsibilities,
especially when they are need to be done simultaneously(Lines
21-22, 31-33, Transcript 3).

When they Consider their Stress as a Form of Stress

“yung time yung time kasi yung hinahawakan doon kung yung time mo is,
kung yung time mo is hindi siya balance mahihirapan ka na icompile lahat ng
requirements” when your time isn’t balanced anymore. You’ll be having a
hard time to complete all your requirements as well as in solving your
problems (Lines 43-46, 48-50, Transcript 3).

every night is that I listen to those music that seems to have
lyrics which I can feel. When I you sing it out it seems to relieve your
stress. Because music appears to be my life.It seems to be a
saviour (Lines 66-70, 72-75, Transript 3).
