DAY 1 ACTIVITIES
A. Mini Lesson:

How are you today? As you all know that In Mathematics we have the
four fundamental operations: addition(+),subtraction(-), multiplication (x),
and division(÷)

When we think about the order of operation it is important to always

remember what comes first, next and last. So, to perform combined
operations on whole numbers we have an acronym: PMDAS or GMDAS.
PMDAS refers to the order of separations and is acronym for
Parenthesis, Multiplication and Division, Addition and Subtraction

GMDAS refers to the order of separations and is acronym for Grouping,

Multiplication and Division, Addition and subtraction
G - Grouping includes parenthesis ( ) brackets { } and braces. [ ]
Today you are going to perform combined operations on whole numbers
using PMDAS.

How to solve series of operations using PMDAS?

Step 1 : Perform the operation inside the parenthesis(P)
Step 2: Do the multiplication and division (MD)or which comes first
Step 3 : Do the addition and subtraction (AS) or which comes first
Example:
6 X (12÷4) + (19+8) First look for the parenthesis and solve the
operation inside
6 X 3 + 27 Next solve for Multiplication

18 + 27 Then add. Give the final answer

= 45

DAY 3 ACTIVITIES
A. Mini Lesson:

Yesterday, you have learned how to solve the four fundamental operation in
series :using PMDAS , Parenthesis, Multiplication, Division, Addition and
Subtraction
Today , you are going to perform GMDAS.
GMDAS refers to the order of separations and is acronym for Grouping ,
Multiplication and Division (from left to right) Addition and subtraction (from left
to right)
Grouping includes parenthesis( ), brackets { } and braces [ ].
In performing the series of operation using GMDAS please follow the following
steps.
Step 1.Look for the Grouping( parenthesis, brackets and braces) Perform the
operations inside the parenthesis , brackets and braces.

Step 2. Next look for MD; multiplication and division. Perform the operation
from left to right or which comes first .

Step 3. Then, look for AS; addition and subtraction. Perform the operation
from left to right or which comes first.

Study the example:

[ 100 ÷ ( 18 + 10 – 18) ] x 4 Solve for the equation inside the
parenthesis
[ 100 ÷ (28-18) ] x 4 Add 18 and 10=28 -18 = 10
[ 100 ÷ 10] x 4 Divide 100 by 10
10 x 4 = 40 Multiply 10 by 4

Final answer is 40.

[ ____+ ____ -7 ] ÷ ______
_____________ ÷______ = _________
3. (18 x 2 – 6 + 12 ) ÷ 7
(____ - 6 + 12 )÷ 7
(_____ + 12 ) ÷ 7
____________ ÷ 7 = ____________
4. [54 ÷9 x 3 ] ÷ 2 x ( 4 – 2 + 3 )
[ ____ x 3 ] ÷ 2 x ( ____+ 3 )
_______÷ 2 x ________ = _______
5. { 99÷11 + 80 - 10 } + ( 16 ÷ 2 ) x 4
{ ____+ ______} + _____ x 4
____________ + ________ = ______

C. Independent Practice Activity
