 Introduction:
In this project we are given the task to choose a major street with in Ras al
khaimah with at least 3 major traffic lights and to determine the capacity
percentage for every direction followed by synchronizing traffic light as
shown in Figure#1 and Figure#2. We chose the street which lies on Rams
road near Al shifa pharmacy. The traffic capacity or flow ratio was
calculated twice for 2 intersections 1 hour each at the peak hours or times
of maximum traffic at point. After calculating the flow ratio we prepared
the street layout. We then choose a single intersection of the major street
to synchronize the two traffic lights as taught in the class of CIEN-
362(transportation engineering).

Objectives:

 To determine the capacity percentage for every direction.

 Synchronise two traffic lights of the major street.

 Prepare a street layout.

 Understand and learn how to determine the flow ratio and calculate
and record the green and red lights of all the traffic lights.

Street map pictures:

Description: This Street map shows the two intersection and phases
chosen to sync and collect the required data. The blue point is the mark
where al shifa pharmacy is towards the left end is the next intersection
where Gulf cinema is.

Traffic synchronization:
This is the representation of synchronization of the 2 intersection selected
shown in Figure#3. We got the results as followed. The green light is for
60secs where yellow and Amber is for 10 secs. We figured a problem in
the second intersection. As the green light for the intersection is late for
about 35 secs so re-adjusted the intersection as shows in the Figure#4
below
