Salesforce Architects are the masterminds behind high-performing Force.com
technical solutions. As our customer-base expands, and new products and features
are introduced, demand for Architects has never been higher.

The new Architect Academy certification program is designed to build an ecosystem


of Salesforce Architects, and promote and recognize their skills and specializations.
By categorizing the academy into three tiers – Technical Architect, Domain
Architect, and Domain Specialist - it allows individuals to go deeper into areas that
best support their needs and expertise.

A Salesforce Certified Domain Architect certification spans across multiple roles,
and recognizes broad and deep architecture expertise across a number of domains.

Pursuing a Domain Specialist certification begins with a subscription to one of
the nine Domain Specialist catalogs. Each catalog is expertly created and curated
under the guidance and expertise of our Program Architect community, a group
of Salesforce Certified Technical Architects committed to building and guiding an
ecosystem of experts. Using this guide, navigate each of the nine Domain Specialist
paths to see what might be right for you.

The content within each catalog varies anywhere from tutorials to e-books, to online
training, videos and publications, and is designed to provide subscribers with the
information they need to stay skilled and relevant as a Domain Specialist. New
content is constantly being added to the catalog to ensure subscribers always have
the latest and greatest information.

Get Certified.
Once a subscriber feels confident in his or her knowledge and experience in a
specific domain, he or she can pursue that specific Salesforce Domain Specialist
certification, available early 2016.

Development Lifecycle
and Deployment
A Salesforce Certified Development Lifecycle and Deployment Specialist assesses
the architecture environment and requirements, and designs environment
management solutions on the Force.com platform that meet the requirements. The
architect has experience communicating solutions and design trade-offs to business
stakeholders, and has the following experience and skills:

• Experience with project and development lifecycle methodologies


• Experience providing requirements traceability through the project’s lifecycle
• Aware of Salesforce and third-party application development lifecycle tools
• Understands test plan design and evaluating effectiveness
Application
Architecture
A Salesforce Certified Application Architecture Specialist assesses the architecture
environment and requirements, and designs solutions on the Force.com platform
leveraging declarative solutions. The architect has experience communicating
solutions and design trade-offs to business stakeholders, and has the following
experience and skills:

• Understands architecture options, design trade-offs, and has the ability to


communicate design choices
• Understands advanced Force.com data modeling concepts and best practices
• Builds experienced solutions with Force.com declarative design elements
• Understands the trade-offs of declarative vs. code and when you need to use each

A Salesforce Certified Apex and Visualforce Architecture Specialist assesses
the architecture environment and requirements, and designs sound and
scalable technical solutions on the Force.com platform that meet business
requirements. The Salesforce Apex and Visualforce Architecture Specialist has the
following experience and skills:

• Understands architecture options, design trade-offs, and has the ability to


communicate design choices
• Aware of globalization (multi-language, multi-currency) application design
considerations on a project
• Able to identify development-related risks, considerations, and limits
for the platform
• Experience with different types of development patterns/principles
A Salesforce Certified Sharing and Visibility Specialist assesses the architecture
environment and requirements and designs solutions on the Force.com platform
that meet sharing and visibility requirements. The architect has experience
communicating solutions and design trade-offs to business stakeholders, and has
the following experience and skills:

• Able to architect a solution to address sharing complexities, mechanisms, and


capabilities of the Force.com platform as part of the functional security model
• Understands sharing and visibility architecture options, design trade-offs, and
has the ability to communicate design choices
• Experience with sharing and visibility architecture design for community users
• Understands performance considerations of sharing in an LDV environment
• Has held a technical architect role on multiple complex deployments or has gained
equivalent knowledge through participation and exposure to these types of projects
(either with single or multiple projects)
• Aware of cloud security encryption, tokenization, and data protection solutions
• Aware of territory management best practices
A Salesforce Certified Integration Architecture Specialist assesses the architecture
environment and requirements, and designs sound and scalable technical solutions
on the Force.com platform that meet end-to-end integration requirements. The
architect has experience communicating solutions and design trade-offs to business
stakeholders, and has the following experience and skills:

• Has held a technical architect role on multiple complex deployments or has gained
equivalent knowledge through participation and exposure to these types of projects
• Has a thorough understanding of Web services in general and SOAP and REST
specifically; understands the basic workings of HTTP/S
• Understands the different Force.com APIs and is able to design solutions using the
appropriate API
• Understands data migration considerations, design trade-offs, and common ETL
tools
• Experience with common integration patterns used on the Force.com platform
• Understands patterns/mechanisms to secure integrations such as TLS for HTTP

A Salesforce Certified Data Architecture and Management Specialist assesses the


architecture environment and requirements, and designs sound, scalable, and
performance solutions on the Force.com platform that meet the requirements
in a large data volume enterprise. The architect has experience communicating
solutions and design trade-offs to business stakeholders, and has the following
experience and skills:

• Aware of platform-specific design patterns and key limits


• Understanding of large data volume considerations, risks, and mitigation strategies
• Understanding of LDV considerations with communities
• Ability to design a data and sharing model that supports an LDV environment
• Understand of data movement best practices in an LDV environment
• Understanding of strategies to build an optimized and performance solution
Identity
and Access
Management

A Salesforce Certified Identity and Access Management Specialist assesses the


architecture environment and requirements, and designs sound and scalable
technical solutions on the Force.com platform that meet the single sign-on (SSO)
requirements. The architect has experience communicating solutions and design
trade-offs to business stakeholders, and has the following experience and skills:

• Able to design a security solution using SAML, OAuth, Salesforce Identity, or a


combination of these technologies
• Understands IDP and SP authentication flows
• Understands the difference between authentication and authorization
• Able to design an SSO solution for communities
• Understands user provisioning and de-provisioning
A Salesforce Certified Mobile Strategy Architecture Specialist assesses the
architecture environment and requirements, and designs sound and scalable
mobile solutions on the Force.com platform that meet the mobility requirements.
The architect has experience communicating solutions and design trade-offs to
business stakeholders, and has the following experience and skills:

• Able to evaluate business use cases in terms of whether they are a good fit for
mobilization
• Understands the design trade-offs of architecting a mobile solution: using HTML5,
Native (iOS, Android, Windows Mobile), Hybrid solutions, or the Salesforce1
Mobile App
• Understands the capabilities of the salesforce Mobile SDK
• Aware of strategies and use cases for wearables and connected devices, and the
appropriate architecture patterns
• Understands how to secure mobile solutions and apps
A Salesforce Certified Communities Architecture Specialist assesses the architecture
environment and requirements, and designs sound, scalable, and performance
solutions on the Force.com platform that meet the requirements for internal and/or
external communities. The architect has experience communicating solutions and
design trade-offs to business stakeholders, and has the following experience and
skills:

• Able to design an appropriate community solution to meet business requirements


• Experience with sharing architecture design for community users
• Able to design an SSO solution for communities
• Understands user provisioning
• Understands LDV considerations with communities
• Understands appropriate choice of community license types
• Salesforce Security Model: profiles, permission sets, and sharing
