Task B

The impact of recent staff changes on the team and the possible effects on the business

 Having less experienced staff my cause problems when it comes to cooking and writing
down the customer’s order because they might get confused and not write the whole order
and miss out some things or cook the wrong foods.

 Making the customers wait longer for their food and not cooking their foods properly could
make the patients unhappy which would make them not want to come back which would
result in the revenue fall by 10% which means that it would affect the business.

 Serving uncooked or overcooked would upset customers which would not make them come
back again and might mean that they will lose other customers too.

 If the customers are being served irregular and small portion of food the customers might
complain and not want to come back.

Addressing staff issues

Julie- has no issues

Jamal- has less experiences in the industry and he is over confident, has good skills, but doesn’t like
to clean.

Working in the kitchen:

 Since Jamal is over confident he might want to cook his own foods or add new things to the
original recipes which would change the taste of the food or lower the quality of the foods
which might result into losing customers and getting in trouble by the manager because of
not following the original recipes.

 Because Jamal does not like to clean it could cause contamination in the kitchen or worse
food poisoning which would result in customers feeling ill or even the restaurant closing
down.

Joe- joe does not get on with Jamal, he lacks confident and is afraid to ask for help, he has difficulties
working with others.

Working in the kitchen:

 Joe lacks confidence which means he might not be able to talk to customers and take their
order which could cause complications such as customers complaining.

 To encourage joe with him getting along with other staff and to boost his confidence is by
talking to my staff and making sure that they know about team work so that they
understand that there should not be a division with the staff members.
Johanna- her supervision skills will affect the other members of staff.

Working in the kitchen:

 if Johanna’s supervision skills have an effect on her staff members it might be the reason
why revenue has fallen by 10%.

 If Johanna’s skills are having an effect on other members of staff, they might complain to the
manager or even quit.

John- he is shy and slow; he needs proper training and guidance.

Working in the kitchen:

 Since John is shy and slow I will make sure that before he starts work I will train him and
make sure that he is ready and knows everything so that he is prepared.

 I will make sure that John gets to know everyone before he starts so that he is confident
when he begins work and that he won’t be afraid to ask for help.

Janet- no issues with Janet, with all the skills and experience she has she should have been
supervisor.

Working in the kitchen:

 Because Janet has the experience and skills to be a supervisor she will need to be trained so
that she is fit to be a supervision.

 Providing support and a mentor will prepare Janet to become a supervisor.

 Making sure that other staff members are happy with Janet being supervisor is important so
that they do not feel unequal. This would build teamwork and equality.
