Celebrate Ag Week!
Agriculture is the #1 industry in Montana, and that is
quite apparent here in northeast Montana and Valley
County. The Scottie Express Wash had a pretty big
customer roll through Friday afternoon and getting
pretty for spring seeding which is just around the
corner. National Ag Week is March 21st-27th, and
the Agriculture Council of America (ACA) will host
National Agriculture Day on Tuesday, March 23rd.
This will mark the 48th anniversary of National Ag
Day which is celebrated in communities across the
country. The theme for National Ag Day 2021 is
“Food Brings Everyone to the Table.”

Mass Groups of Illegal Aliens Coming
to Montana? ‘Not if I Can Help It’

“Not if I can help it.” That’s how Montana’s
Congressman Matt Rosendale (R-MT) responded to a
news report from the Washington Post over the weekend
that says the Biden Administration is considering sending
large groups of illegal aliens to northern border states like
Montana.
Montana’s Attorney General Austin Knudsen
(R-MT) and Governor Greg Gianforte (R-MT) also
weighed in over the weekend, calling the crisis “the Biden
Administration’s own making.” The two officials said that
Montana is unable to care for the illegal aliens and that
they “will take any and all appropriate legal measures to
immediately prevent these relocation efforts.”
According to The Washington Post: “A new spike
in the number of families and children crossing the Rio
Grande into South Texas over the past several hours is
forcing U.S. Customs and Border Protection to request
airplanes that will allow the Biden administration
to transport migrants to states near the Canadian
border for processing, according to two Department of
Homeland Security officials and an email reviewed by
The Washington Post.
According to the Military Times, Malmstrom Air
Force Base in Great Falls is already under consideration,
and is “further along” in the process: “Malmstrom Air
Force Base, Montana, and Fort Sill, Oklahoma, may be
the closest of the three to receiving the children. They
have already received initial assessments from the
Department of Health and Human Services, but there
are steps remaining in the approval process, said Defense
Department spokesman Army Maj. Chris Mitchell.”

Stops, 26 Junk
Foods part one
Anyone over my age, or younger,
has made the annual see-the-grand kids-trip.
I’ve made several or more to see just one set of kids
but never had the opportunity to make a see-three-sets-of-them
trek.
I’ve since finished the excursion having seen 8 grandkids
ages 2 to 25, 3 of my kids’ ages undisclosed, 1 Barney Fife cop, 2
really good to great sons-in-law, 1 favorite uncle and his bride, one
half-brother, one old friend, 2 sisters, insides of 26 gas stations, one
casino and the Mustang Ranch....drive-thru only, of course. And
that’s not all. I got the very first traffic ticket in a personal vehicle
since 1983. And in the same town I got ripped off for mechanical
repairs, also because of my Montana license plates. Some folks do
that, you know.
I learned that there are very few trees along the interstates and
skinny roads in the ten western states which I traversed mostly
north to south but some east to west. There are none on US
highway 97 from I-20 in Az to north of Reno, Nv a most desolate
stretch of highway indeed to Tonopah and then to Reno. Desolate
but fun to drive and contrary to what some folks say when they
drive through Eastern Montana on US 2 or US 97 north in
Arizona and Nevada, there are a plethora of things to see and
stunning landscapes which change with every mile.
I saw lots of friendly people and some not so friendly people.
I learned that of the 26 gas stations I visited that 21 were owned
by East India folks. I also learned that along Interstate 5 in Cal, Or
and Wa 95% of these stations along with most convenient stores
and motels are owned by the same demographicicalized people. I
would estimate 95%. There are some folks in Northern California
who wish to split off from the crazy southern part of the state and
make northern Ca the state of Jefferson.

My first “people” stop was just south of Ranchester, Wyo
to deliver a leather-covered whiskey flask to Josh. I was falling
behind of schedule so we just visited by the highway for awhile
and I went on my way where I spent $28.88 on gas, 2.54 per gallon
and about five bucks for coffee and donuts in Sheridan. 185 miles
later I fueled in Gillette, Wyo where gas had jumped to 2.92 per
gallon. Then on to Johnson’s Corner in Colorado north of Denver.
The signs in Colorado announce gas for as low as 2.49 but that’s
for 85 octane gas. 87 octane is anywhere from 22 cents higher to
30 cents higher depending on who owns the station.
I drove into my son Jim’s ranch in Coaldale, Colorado, 960
miles and 17 hours later. Grandson Jon was out feeding cows so I
set up in the RV trailer out back, went inside, did dishes, cleaned
the kitchen and made supper. At barely sixteen Jon takes care of the
ranch four days a week while Jim works building water treatment
facilities around the state, currently working on one in Crested
Butte just West over Monarch Pass, and north of Gunnison. He
comes home Thursday night and stays until Monday morning
at about 5 am when he makes the drive back to work. Other
grandsons school in Salida and come to the ranch on weekends.
Josh and Jacob came on Friday and we had all got together for
a family sing and guitar play. Jon’s been running the ranch since
he was 15 with emergency help from the neighbors in case he
needs it. I brought him some of my leather tools and taught him
some stuff while there. He plans on coming to Hinsdale later for a
couple weeks.
I fueled-up in Cotopaxi at 2.75 per gallon and headed for I
25 at Pueblo for the ride south to Albuquerque where I stopped
at William Thomas Trucking to visit Lauren, Steve, Jeanette and
Mary Lou. Steve started working there when he was a mere kid
and through hard work and dedication he was able to buy the
company back in the 1980’s. I drove more than a million miles for
him, some as a company drive and most as an owner operator. It’s
always good to see old friends.
I had gassed-up in Corralis, NM so I had enough to make it
to Truth or Consequences, NM where I topped the tanks at 2.69
per gallon for 85 octane. My restaurant waitress was a retired US
Army sergeant and a strong patriot and Trump supporter. It was
a great meal with lots of good conversation. She’s formerly from
Montana and build like a burlap bag full of brick outhouses if you
know what I mean. I asked her to marry me. She said she’d call.......
