In 2012, President Barack
Obama signed a presidential
proclamation, designating March
29 as the annual observance of
Vietnam War Veterans Day.
The signing of the proclamation
marked the departure of the last
American troops from Vietnam
— March 29, 1973. Only U.S.
embassy personnel and support
staff remained in South Vietnam
until the fall of Saigon on April 30,
1975.

It was a deadly war
The human costs of the long conflict were harsh
for all involved. Not until 1995 did Vietnam release
its official estimate of war dead: as many as 2 million
civilians on both sides and some 1.1 million North
Vietnamese and Viet Cong fighters.
The U.S. military has estimated that between
200,000 and 250,000 South Vietnamese soldiers died in
the war.
In 1982 the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was
dedicated in Washington, D.C., inscribed with the
names of 57,939 members of U.S. armed forces who had
died or were missing as a result of the war. Over the
following years, additions to the list have brought the
total past 58,200.
Among other countries that fought for South
Vietnam on a smaller scale, South Korea suffered more
than 4,000 dead, Thailand about 350, Australia more
than 500, and New Zealand some three dozen.

The EPA’s Clean Air
Act was passed in 1970 and
by 1972 emission control
devices were installed on
new vehicles and in the
State of beautiful Virginia,
where we lived at the time,
vehicle inspections were
on a yearly basis.
If you had a leak in
your exhaust system you had a month to have it repaired
or you could not get a license plate renewed. There were
surprise check point inspections by the State Police and
if you did not have your “papers” in order you would
receive a citation.
Hawaii also has a yearly vehicle inspection system.
So do many other states.
To combat climate change the EPA also had
fluorocarbon’s removed from hair spray as well as many
other products and even refrigerant for automobile air
conditioners was replaced, all in the interest of clean
air and climate change. All that legislation was 53 years
ago, so how did that work out for ya?
Well, now the current Biden administration has most
recently gone on the attack of many home gas stoves
which has perpetuated quite a backlash from gas
stove proponents. Say, might I add to the Democratic
onslaught of product nullification, gas water heaters…
How did they forget that?
Oops, did I just add to America’s woes?
Fox News reported on March 24, 2023, with the
headline:
Biden Admin Cracks Down On Air Conditioners
As War On Appliances Continues!
Now the current administration has come up with
another product that is causing harm to the world’s
climate change problem, the home air conditioner!
Yep, the EPA just announced on Thursday, in an action
it said would reduce the nation’s carbon emissions
and that home owners will have to restrict use of that
much needed device that in some areas is a necessity of
healthy living for people with respiratory problems. Oh,
that would be clean air quality entering the lungs, would
it not?
This is all well and good, for the environment, I
guess. American’s should suffer because, well we owe it
to the rest of the world to clean up our act for a better
place for the world to live in. Ask teeny ager, Greta
Thuneberg! Meanwhile over in Hong Kong, China they
do not seem to be doing as much for the environment of
the rest of the world even after China regained control
of that magnificent city from the British. (See Photo).
Why even old Bill Gates, of Microsoft, wants you
to start eating bugs to combat climate change due to,
are you ready for this, cow emissions or better known
as cow farts. Why, even over in Germany they have cow
bathrooms to combat pollution.
Ya know, I am not smart enough to be making this
stuff up!
Actually we are feverishly waiting for “climate
change” to show itself here in Montana. It, by the way
happens every year, it is called Spring, Summer, Fall and
Winter.
Go Springtime, we are waiting! Right now, Hi-
line Montanans are suffering from too much fresh air
poisoning!

Recognizing those Veterans
who served in Vietnam.
As a Vietnam Era Veteran,
I was prevented from going due
to the death of my older brother
in August of 1968.
I have always Thanked
and Welcomed those that I
recognized as having served in SE Asia because I felt
it was important that we as brothers should Welcome
them back home. I believe we should carry this tradition
forward and make “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans
Day” every day of the year! Because some of those
veterans may not be a member of the Legion or VFW and
never hear it except from those of us who are still serving
our country as a Member of the Legion or VFW!

its water from the Town of Fort Peck’s water treatment
plant/Fort Peck Reservoir.
(Note from the Buzz: Hmmm.... must be all those walleyes,
northern pikes, smalleys, carp, etc. that use Fort Peck
Reservoir as a year-round outhouse, as well as all the
recreationists that magically turn beer into water in the lake
make the water so magically delicious! But seriously, all due
to our Fort Peck Rural County Water District, just as pure
and tasty as can be. In 2021, the city of Bozeman placed third
overall in the “Best of the Best” Water Taste Test through the
American Water Works Association. Hopefully the Fort Peck
water crew will be the 2024 national champs!)
