Journal Week 5
Journal Week 5
Week 5 consisted of several meetings and more outreach calls and network creation. I
was able to take part in a management team meeting call on Monday 2/15 to discuss goal updates
and planning for the months of March and April since we are fast approaching Alzheimer’s
Policy week in the first week of March. The meeting mainly covered how different staff were
expected to step up and take part in policy and advocacy work to help raise awareness with the
Policy representative that week. Later that week on Wednesday (2/17) I was able to sit in on a
conference call with businesses offering caregiver support within South Georgia’s care network.
They discussed ways to better serve caregivers who needed information and resources during the
COVID-19 pandemic. A few speakers from personal care homes were offering new perspectives
on ways to improve daily life for Alzheimer’s patients and their families. It was very insightful
and some of the work they were doing gave me ideas for ways to expand my career search when
it comes time for me to do so. That day I also got to sit in and observe another general program
on the 10 Warning signs of Alzheimer’s. It was interesting to see how the volunteer discussed
the content. It helped me see the ways I would d things differently than she would when I finally
On Thursday (2/18) I sat in on a conference call with a local assisted living home with
Changes” to the care staff. She has the same presentation for patients and their families next
week, and she plans to deliver each a little different. She thought it important I attended the
meeting because It was a lesson on how to take the curriculum and change it to meet the
audience needs. I’m very excited to get to see the different ways I can learn to adapt my
assistant in the past will be helpful when I give presentations to healthcare facilities in the future
