LESSON PLAN IN
TRENDS, NETWORKS, & CRITICAL THINKING IN THE 21ST CENTURY

Date: October 23, 2018

Learning Competency: HUMSS_MCT12-Ic-e-2, HUMSS_MCT12-Ic-e-3

I. LESSON OBECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, 90% of the students must be able to:
1. explain strategic analysis;
2. use strategic analysis in dealing with varied activities; and
3. appreciate the importance of strategic analysis in making life’s decisions.

II. SUBJECT MATTER


Topic : Understanding Local Networks

Materials : masking tape, newspapers, visual aids, pictures, sheets of paper, meter

III. TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCEDURES/PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES


A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
1. Review
(Review of the past lesson will be given by the teacher)
- What is the difference between a fad and a trend?
- What are the characteristics or elements of a trend?
- Give an example of today’s trends (5 minutes)
2. Motivation

“Build a Tower Game” (5 minutes)


The class will be divided into 3 groups. Using newspapers and masking tape, the group will produce the
highest tower and the strongest tower will win.
(1 minute instruction, 2 minutes preparation, 2 minutes presentation)

a. What did you feel about the activity?


b. What did the group do/strategies applied to accomplish and finish the task?

Presentation of Learning Objectives

In connection to the game, the objectives of today’s discussion are (mention the objectives).
Let us start by looking at the meaning strategy and analogy.

B. LESSON PROPER

ACTIVITY (15 minutes)

The class will be divided into three (3) groups. Each will be given the same picture and answer the
questions assigned.
Rommel, a five-year-old boy, put a label
“Salt” into a jar of sugar. Actually, he has
been observing it almost every day
because many ants are invading the jar.

I - Why do you think Rommel has labelled the jar of sugar “Salt”?
II - What thinking did he use? Why?

IV - What is Strategic Analysis?

Strategic – Analysis involves the individual’s capacity for thinking conceptually, imaginatively,
systematically, and opportunistically with regard to the attainment of success in the future. The
process requires you to follow a pattern to creatively address a situation and understand the
environment in which an organization is operating.

ANALYSIS (5 minutes)

“That’s the Color Game”


Group the class into 3 colors. Every color corresponds with specific questions to be answered by
any among the members of the group.
Presentation and processing questions
- Was it easy or difficult to use analogy? Why? (Red)
- Is having a strategy and using analogy helpful in coming up with good solutions? (Yellow)
- With the activity we had, what strategy did Rommel use to solve his problem with the
ants? Is it helpful? Is it effective? (Blue)

ABSTRACTION (5 minutes)

“Round Table Discussion”


With the same group, members will form a circle. Each group will be given a sheet of paper to write
on. All the members are required to write and participate. After completing the task, the paper will
be returned to the teacher and someone will be assigned to discuss it within their group.

- What have you learned from the present lesson discussion?

APPLICATION

“Paint Me a Picture”
With the same group, the teacher gives a certain situation. Using only the bodily gestures, personal
effects and emotional expression, the groups illustrates the scene. At a given signal, everyone
freezes. And someone will be left to discuss and explain the scene.

V. ASSIGNMENT
The students will be divided into 3 groups. Each group will be assigned a particular aspect in our
society. They are to create a short skit on a particular problem in the unit and use Strategic Analysis in
solving the problem
