Task 1
The graph below shows the percentage of overweight men and women in Australia
from 1980 to 2010.
The given graph compares the proportion of obesity of Autralian Australian male and
female between 1980 and 2010.
Overall, the rate of overweight men was clearly higher than overweight women in all that
thirty years. It is also clear that the figures for both men and women underwent upward
trends over the first 30 years of the period, yet underwent a mild drop (for men) and a
plateau (for women) for the last 10 years.
As can be seen from the graph, the percentage of overweight men went up minimally from
nearly a half to above a half between 1980 and 1990. This number went on increasing
gradually to 70 percent until 2000. However, for the following ten years, there was a slight
fall in overweight men rate by about 3 percent.
Compared with the number of obese men, the number of women who were overweight
were lessfewer than. In Over the next twenty years from 1980 to 2000, the number of
obese women also rose moderately, from less than a third to a half, and this number still
remained until 2010.

In recent years, there are drastic changes in family life style. People prefer living on their
own or in a nuclear family to living in an extended one, especially those who live in urban
areas. Whether this growing trend bring about both beneficial and detrimental impacts.
However, in my opinion, the upsides of this phenomenon are more likely to outweigh its
downsides.
On the one hand, living in one – person households enables people to live in comfort and
liberty. They are able to do whatever they want without not effect on bothering others and
vice versa. For instance, undergraduates who live on their own can invite friends over
whenever they want without any complaints. Besides, leading a solitary life lets people
make their own decisions and create their own rules. They are able to fully enjoy their life
rather than be bothered with tedious household duties. As an illustration, during holidays,
a single girl has myriads of options for entertainment like an outbound tour or traveling
with her friends instead of worries about family care.
In addition to living alone, people who have are married like living in nuclear families
rather than in large families. There are certain reasons for this tendency. Firstly, people
living in two–generation families often expensive experience less lower chance of conflicts,
which are more likely to happen in large family units. Due to the fact that different people
have dissimilar personalities and preferences, so relatives living the same roof can oppose
each other and cause mutual hatred familial conflicts are inevitable. Furthermore, nuclear
families can have a possive positive effect in terms of economic growth. The parents are
easier to manage household expenses. Moreover, the children who live in miniature small
families are better at independence than those in large families.
In conclusion, solo people or those living in small family units single-person and small-
sized households will have more advantages as I present above.
