Task 1

The given line graph illustrates the number of tones of sugar which was produced and
consumed in India over the course of ten years from 2001 to 2011.

The initial impression from the graph is that there was a strong wild fluctuation in sugar
production, while the sugar consumption gradually increased. It is clear that the figures for both
sugar production and consumption underwent an overall upward trend until 2011.

As can be seen from the graph, around 27 tonnes sugar were produced in 2011, this figure was
higher in comparison with the number of sugar consumption (about 23 tones). However, in the
year of 2003, there was a negligible decrease in the sugar production and a moderate rise in the
consumption of sugar, and they intersected at the same point at 25 tones. For the following 2
years, the amount of sugar which was produed went down dramatically to under 20 tones,
while the number of sugar consumed nearly maintain the same lavel at 24 tones.

Over the next 6 years, there was a strong fluctuation in the sugar production. It peaked the
highest point at roughly 35 tones in 2007 and then enormously substantially reduced to over 20
tones and reached at above 30 tones in 2011. While Meanwhile, the figures for sugar utilized
gradually climbed and attained around 28 tones at the end of the research period.

Task 2
Today many children spend a lot of time playing video games and little time on
sports. Why is it? Is it a positive or negative development?

In this modern era, with the advancement in technology, video games have grown up more and
more. This has motivated youngsters to spend most of their time playing games, instead of
indulging in outdoor sports. There are several reasons for this phenomenon, and . Forfrom my
perspective, I completely disagree with this tendency.

There are a wide range of reasons why numerous children spend more time playing electronic
games than on sports. Firstly, parents are occupied with work all day and they worry about
their children’s security so they do not have time to talk, share and take their children to join
outdoor activities. This makes the youth become addicted video games. Secondly,
computerized games are diversified more and more, and they have the vivid pictures and
sounds, so they are attractive attract a huge number of players.

However, spending a lot of time on playing games is a negative development. First of all, it can
be very harmful to the health. If gamers are becoming totoo addicted and sacrified sports time
for playing games, they can have to may suffer from different types of diseases, such as obesity,
weakness of eyesshortsightedness and so on because they have not moved for a long time. As
an illustration, the rise in obesity in recent years has been closely correlated with the sedentary
lifestyle caused by excessive gaming and lack of exercise. In addition, playing games makes
students neglectmay give rise to students’ negligence in their study. This may lead to the fact
that their study results can be decreased. Futhermore, the majority of games on electronic
devices are violent rather than educational. This means excessive exposure to those game plots
builds upaffect children’s mental impairment health and tendency towards anti-social
behaviours, contributing to higher crime rates in the future.

To conclude, the development of the game industry is the possitive trend. However, spending
too much time playing online games is very harmful for the upcoming generation.
