Values of Recreational Activities

Recreation activities are activities done for the purpose of enjoyment, pleasure,
and amusement. These are performed during time after 2work, school or during free
time. It is performed through different classifications like Arts and Crafts, Outdoor
Activities, Technology-based activities, or Fitness and Sports.

Aside from its purpose and classifications, performing Recreational Activities also
gives values. These includes Relaxation, Reduces Stress, Health Impact, Social
Benefits, Effective Time Utilization and Sharpens Skills. First, it gives relaxation to every
individual. Recreational activities release the tension from the whole day of work and
revitalize your senses resulting in relaxation. For example, you are tired from work
because of many paperwork then you decide to watch a movie on Netflix to ease your
tiredness and to relax yourself. Second, it reduces stress. Revitalizing your senses from
loads of work in school, at home, or even work can be achieved through active
participation in recreational activities. Last December, I was in extreme anxiety and
depression, but everyday I make sure to jog to the seashore and have a little me time at
the beach. This recreational activity of mine before, helped me to get over my
depression and anxiety easily. Third, it provides health impact. Since it removes stress,
it is definitely a vital activity that could contribute to the health a wellness of an
individual. Jogging after work or before going to school can help to build strong bones,
strengthens your muscles, and can also improve cardiovascular fitness. Dancing
different kinds of dance, or even Tiktok dance challenges, can also increase muscular
strength and improve heart and lungs condition. Fourth, it allows you to gain social
benefits. Performing recreational activities by merging with other people with common
interest is a value that enables the individual to be more sociable and have a satisfying
relationship with others. One perfect example is playing sports particularly basketball.
Almost all of the basketball players know each other because they interact socially with
each other as a team. They have a different kind of relationship with each other that
was built every time they play. Fifth, it allows an individual to have Effective Time
Utilization. Recreational activities do not only benefit your mind and body but also helps
you manage the use of your time in an efficient and productive manner. During your free
time, instead of laying down in your bed, you can go out and play Badminton, or either
you go swimming or jogging. It’s just a matter of deciding on what recreational activities
to perform for you to become as a productive individual. Fifth, recreational activities
enhance your skills. Playing badminton everyday and making it as your hobby can
contribute to your progress as a player. Because for example, everyday you practice the
different techniques in badminton, up until you master all of these techniques, your skills
will enhance and improve as well as your performance as a player.

Performing recreational activities is a must to everyone. The benefits and values


given have great impact to our daily lives. In does not only make your time productive,
but also provide you the health advantages and mental benefits to everyone.
