1.04 REFERENCES

A. The referred codes and standards are intended to provide an acceptable level of
quality for materials and products. In case of conflict between these standards and
the text of this Specification, the Specification text shall govern.

B. The latest revision of the referred codes and standards shall be used wherever
applicable. In case of conflict, the Contractor shall propose equipment confirming to

1.05 DEFINITIONS

A. concealed: Rendered inaccessible by the structure or finish of the building. Wires in


concealed raceways are considered concealed even though they may become
accessible by withdrawing them.

B. conduit: A rigid flexible metallic or non-metallic raceway of circular cross section in


which cables are routed to protect them from damages.

C. fittings: An accessory such as a locknut, bushing or other part of a wiring system


that is intended primarily to perform a mechanical rather than an electrical function.

D. outlet: A point on the wiring system at which current is taken to supply utilization
equipment.

E. raceway: An enclosed channel of metal or non-metallic material designated


expressly for wires, cables or bus ways.

1.06 SUBMITTALS

A. The Contractor shall submit to the Royal Commission, under the provisions of
SECTION 01330, the following items for review and approval before commencing
work:

1. Shop Drawings shall include:

a) A complete drawing list/index identifying all drawings in the Shop


Drawing package.

b) Legend, Symbols and specialized terminology used on the drawings.

c) Shop Drawings showing layouts, location of raceways and devices.

2. List of manufacturers.

3. Calculations for sizing of the equipment selected.

4. Sample of all equipment supplied.

5. Maintenance Data and Operating Instructions

a) Manufacturer’s catalogs and Data Sheets for Conduit, Fittings and


Under-floor Raceways.

b) Instruction for storage and handling of the equipment.

c) All installation details along with the fittings, supports and support
hardware for proper installation of equipment supplied.

d) Recommended list of spare parts along with price list.

e) Factory test report.

6. Quality Program as specified in SECTION 01450.

B. The Contractor shall submit Field Test Report after completion of testing and
commissioning.

1.07 QUALITY CONTROL

A. The Contractor shall be responsible for the quality of Work and shall develop and
propose programs and methods of construction and testing to achieve the specified
quality to the approval of the Royal Commission in accordance with
SECTION 01450.

1.08 HEALTH AND SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

A. All works undertaken in relation to this specification are to be completed in full


accordance with the respective health and safety requirements established by the
following:

1. Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

a) Legislation, Regulation, Standards and Codes.

2. Royal Commission Regulations

a) Standards, Contractual Conditions, and Health & Safety systems.

3. Contractor

a) Health and Safety Standards and Systems as accepted by the Royal


Commission.

B. In the absence of any of the above, best accepted industry practice shall be
employed throughout.

1.09 FACTORY TESTING

A. All equipment/material shall be tested at factory in accordance with the latest


applicable codes and standard. All type tests as per applicable codes and standards
shall be performed on first unit of every new design. The Contractor shall notify the
Royal Commission in writing not less than 30 days prior to the scheduled starting
date of the factory tests.

B. The Royal Commission reserves the right of deputing their representative for
witnessing the factory test.

C. Upon completion of factory test and before shipment of the equipment/material, the
Contractor shall submit 5 certified copies of test reports not latter than 10 days after
completion of all factory test for review/approval by the Royal Commission.

1.10 SERVICE CONDITIONS

A. Raceways installed indoors shall be suitable for continuous operation under the
following service conditions:

1. Ambient Air Temperature

a) A maximum of 40°C.

b) A minimum of 0°C.

c) Average temperature measured over a period of 1 month is 35°C.

2. Relative Humidity (Average Value)

a) For a period of 24 hour does not exceed 95%.

b) For a period of 1 month does not exceed 90%.

B. Raceways installed outdoors shall be suitable for continuous operation under the
following service conditions:

1. Ambient Air Temperature

a) A maximum of 50°C.

b) A minimum of 0°C.

c) Average temperature measured over a period of 1 month is 45°C.

2. Altitude is less than 1000 m, unless a higher altitude is specified on the


Contract Drawings.

3. Average Value of Relative Humidity

a) For a period of 24 hour does not exceed 95%.

b) For a period of 1 month does not exceed 90%.

C. Relative humidity may be temporarily 100%.

1.11 DELIVERY, HANDLING AND STORAGE

A. The Contractor shall deliver, handle and store equipment and material in accordance
with SECTIONS 01650 and 01660, as well as the following requirements:

1. Provide marking on each item in accordance with the referenced standards.

2. Ship each unit securely wrapped, crated and labeled for safe handling in
shipment and to avoid damage or distortion.

3. On arrival at site, the equipment/material shall be checked for completeness


and physical damage.

4. Store equipment in secured, dry and clean storage facility as recommended by


manufacturer.

5. Lift the equipment using eyes, yokes, and skids provided for the purpose by
manufacturer.

6. Provide supports for vertical units to prevent them from overturning.

7. The Contractor shall be responsible for any damage occurring during


transportation, handling and storage of the equipment.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.01 GENERAL

A. All goods and products covered by these Specifications shall be procured, when
available, from an in-Kingdom manufacturer. Procurement of all goods manufactured
out-of-Kingdom shall be approved by the Royal Commission.

2.02 CONDUITS AND FITTINGS

A. The Contractor shall supply rigid metal conduits (RMC), flexible metal conduits
(FMC), rigid non-metallic conduits (RNC) and flexible non-metallic conduits (FNC)
especially manufactured for the purpose of electrical wiring.

B. All fittings, unions, couplings, elbows, conduit bodies, bushing, ground bushing,
transition fittings, tees, end caps, locknuts, reducers and expansions, sleeves, end
bells, connectors, supports and support hardware required for proper installation of
conduit, shall be supplied by the Contractor.

C. Rigid Metal Conduits (RMC)

1. Rigid metal conduits shall be supplied in standard length with threads at both
ends. One end of the conduit shall be provided with a coupling or connecting
device. Minimum conduit size shall be 20 mm.

2. Types of Rigid Metal Conduit:

a) Rigid Steel Conduits (RSC)


1) Rigid steel conduit shall be manufactured in accordance with
ANSI C80.1.
2) Rigid steel conduit larger than Trade Size 6 shall not be used for
routing the cables.

b) Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT)


1) Electrical metallic tubing shall be manufactured in accordance
with ANSI C80.3.
2) Electrical metallic tubing larger than Trade Size 2 shall not be
used.
3) It shall generally be used for routing the cables for branch circuits,
control circuits and signal circuits, except for the following
conditions and locations:
(a) Locations where there are a possibility of crushing and
damaging during installation or utilization.
(b) Damp and wet locations or conditions.
(c) Corrosive locations or conditions.
(d) Hazardous classified areas.

c) Intermediate Metal Conduit (IMC)


1) Intermediate Metal Conduit shall be manufactured in accordance
with ANSI C80.6.
2) Intermediate Metal Conduit larger than Trade Size 4 shall not be
used for routing the cables.

3. Metallic conduits made of steel shall be hot-dip galvanized. The interior and
exterior of the conduit shall be coated with zinc of uniform quality and
appearance throughout all surfaces.

4. Aluminum conduit shall be supplied only when shown on the drawing. They
are used only for special applications. Aluminum conduit shall be
manufactured from copper-free (at the most 0.4% copper content is allowed)
aluminum alloy.

D. Rigid Non-Metallic Conduit (RNC)

1. Rigid non-metallic heavy wall conduit shall conform to UL 651. The conduits
and fittings shall be made from suitable non-metallic material such as PVC that
is resistant to moisture and chemical atmospheres. The characteristics of PVC
conduits shall be as indicated below:

a) The conduit shall be flame retardant, i.e. self extinguishing as per


ASTM D635.

b) The tensile strength of the conduit shall be 41.3 MPa at 26°C as per
ASTM D638.

c) Flexural strength of the conduit shall be 75.8 MPa as per ASTM D695.

d) Hardness of the conduit shall be 77 as per ASTM D2240.

e) Maximum water absorption shall be 0.3% in 24 hour at 22°C as per


ASTM D570.

f) Dielectric strength of the conduit shall be 43000 V per mm as per


ASTM D149.

g) The thermal conductivity shall not exceed 670 W per m °C.

2. One end of the conduit shall have bell socket to join 2 conduits together
without using coupler.

3. For use above ground, it shall be resistant to distortion from heat under
conditions likely to be encountered in service and resistant to low and high
temperature and sunlight effects such as UV degradation.

4. For use underground, it shall be resistant to moisture and corrosive agents and
shall withstand impact and crushing during handling and installation. The
conduit shall be suitable for routing the cables rated for 90°C. Where buried
directly without encasement in concrete, it shall withstand continued loading
that is likely to be encountered after installation.

E. Flexible Metal Conduit (FMC)

1. Flexible metal conduit shall conform to UL 1 and used for connection between
equipment that is subject to vibration or which requires movement for
adjustment and permanent raceways or for connecting 2 parts of the building
across an expansion joint. The flexible metal conduit shall be circular in cross
section and made of helically wound, formed, interlocked metal strip.

2. Liquid-tight flexible metal conduit shall be used in wet locations or where


exposed to mineral oil. The liquid tight metal flexible conduit shall be circular in
cross section having an outer liquid-tight, non-metallic, sunlight resistant jacket
over a flexible metal core with associated couplings, connectors and fittings for
installation of electric conductors. The jacket shall not become brittle in cold
and shall not deteriorate when exposed to ozone.

3. It shall be ensured that the length of flexible metallic conduit used for
connection between rigid raceways and equipment does not exceed 1.8 m.

F. Flexible Non-Metallic Conduit (FNC)

1. Flexible non-metallic conduit (spiral wound) shall be manufactured in


accordance with UL 3 and used for connection between equipment which
requires movement for adjustment and permanent raceways. These conduits
shall be used in the places where there is no danger of mechanical damages
such as connection between outlet boxes and luminaires in false ceilings.

2. Flexible non-metallic conduit shall be suitable for installation in conjunction


with rigid non-metallic conduits by the use of the proper fittings and
connectors.

3. Liquid-tight flexible non-metallic conduit shall be used where protection of


contained conductors is required from vapors and liquid.

4. It shall be ensured that the length of flexible non-metallic conduit used for
connection between rigid raceways and equipment does not exceed 1.8 m
except as permitted by Article 356.12(5) of NEC

2.03 UNDER-FLOOR RACEWAYS

A. Under-floor Raceway System shall be used to support lighting and power; signal and
communication system to desks; work benches and tables that are not located
adjacent to walls.

B. Under-floor ducts shall be made of welded rectangular tubing with rounded corners.
The ducts shall be provided with a continuous separator between power and
communication cables.

C. Under-floor raceways shall be constructed so that adequate electrical and


mechanical continuity of the complete system will be secured. They shall provide a
complete enclosure for the conductors. The interior surfaces shall be free from burrs
and sharp edges. The surfaces over which conductors are drawn shall be smooth.

D. Flush-floor screeded ducts shall be made of galvanized zinc coated steel. The

removable top load-bearing panel shall be designed to lie flush with floor surface
within the screed. The system shall offer an easy access for installation or re-routing
of cables.

E. Under-floor screeded ducts shall be made of galvanized zinc coated steel or PVC.
This type of ducting shall meet the most demanding power, telecommunications and
data cable management requirement.

F. Cast-in-place flush-floor or under-floor duct system shall be provided as shown on


the Contract Drawings. The ducting system shall be suitable for direct installation in
the structural slab, thereby eliminating the need of any additional screed.

G. Under-floor ducts for installation in cavity or raised floors shall be as shown on


Contract Drawings.

H. Cross, tee and elbow type of junction boxes, vertical boxes and adaptor boxes with
required barrier for segregation of power, control and communication cable shall be
provided as indicated on Contract Drawings.

I. The under-floor duct system supplied shall include all accessories such as reducer,
end caps, fixed and adjustable trunking support brackets, trunking fixing brackets and
fixing clips for proper installation of the duct system.

2.04 BOXES

A. General

1. Boxes shall be suitable for use in ambient temperatures up to at least 55°C. In


all other respects they shall conform to IEC 60670. Terminations in junction,
outlet and floor boxes shall be of the screwed type.

2. Boxes installed in classified area shall conform to the requirements of


IEC 60079 and Article 500 of NEC.

B. Pull and Junction Boxes

1. Pull and junction boxes shall be either non-metallic or metallic boxes. Non-
metallic boxes shall be permitted only with rigid non-metallic conduit.

2. Pull and junction boxes shall be suitable for use with the selected raceway
system. Boxes installed in wet locations and boxes installed outdoors shall be
gasketed.

C. Outlet Boxes

1. Outlet boxes shall be plastic or steel depending upon the raceway system. For
exposed installation, outlet boxes shall be either cast steel or heavy duty
plastic, rigidly connected to the conduit system by suitable bushings.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.01 GENERAL

A. The Contractor shall provide all materials, equipment, tool and labor as deemed
necessary for completion and proper execution of the work.

3.02 INSTALLATIONS

A. General

1. All installation details, instruction manuals and latest revised drawings


furnished by manufacturer shall be available at site prior to installation of the
equipment. The details and instructions furnished in these documents shall be
followed carefully by the Contractor during installation of the equipment.

2. All buildings and rooms for the installation of the equipment shall be ready,
complete and clean. All embedded channels and anchor bolts shall be in place
as per the layout drawings.

3. All the facilities required for transportation of electrical equipment from store to
site such as competent manpower, crane and trucks of adequate capacities
shall be supplied by the Contractor.

4. All equipment moved to the site shall be inspected for damage or deterioration
during storage. Tag numbers and nameplates shall be verified with the details
given on the drawings.

5. All manpower and equipment required for installation shall be supplied by the
Contractor.

6. The gap formed between wall and raceway while passing through wall shall be
sealed with a water-based sealant, designed for use with metal raceways
(including RSC), EMT and plastic pipes.

B. Installation of Conduits

1. Conduits installed in exposed areas subject to mechanical damage shall be


IMC or RSC, and those exposed but not subject to mechanical damages shall
be EMT as indicated on Contract Drawing. The conduits embedded in walls or
encased in concrete and structural slabs shall be PVC conduits. The fittings
used with embedded conduit shall be concrete tight and water tight.

2. Where conduit runs occur in spaces above false ceiling, the conduit shall be
installed above false ceiling and not in floor slab. Interior conduits above false
ceiling and in furred walls shall be rigid PVC conduit.

3. While installing rigid metal conduits, it shall be ensured that no dissimilar


metals come in contact with each other anywhere in the system. This is
required to eliminate the possibility of galvanic action.

4. Aluminum fittings and enclosures shall be permitted to be used with steel

RMC, and steel fittings and enclosures shall be permitted to be used with
aluminum RMC where not subject to severe corrosive influences.

5. Install conduit securely in a neat and workmanlike manner. Exposed conduits


shall be installed parallel and perpendicular to the building walls and ceilings
with right angle bends and a clear space between conduit and wall. The
support shall be hot-dip galvanized wall brackets, ceiling trapezes, or pipe
strap hangers with solid anchorage in concrete.

6. Maintain adequate clearance between conduit and piping. Do not support


conduit with wire or perforated pipe strap and do not attach conduit to ceiling
support wires. Remove the wires used for temporary supports. Arrange conduit
to maintain adequate headroom clearances.

7. The minimum clearance of 300 mm in parallel runs and 150 mm in cross runs
shall be maintained between conduits and surfaces with temperature
exceeding 40°C such as steam or hot water pipe lines. Conduit runs shall
maintain minimum clearance of 75 mm from cold water piping.

8. Where portions of a conduit is known to be subjected to different temperatures


and where condensation is a problem, as in cold storage areas of buildings or
where passing from the interior to the exterior of a building, the conduit shall
be filled with an approved material to prevent the circulation of warm air to a
colder section of the conduit. The moisture traps shall be avoided by providing
junction boxes with drain fitting at low points in the conduit system.

9. Bends in conduits shall be made in such a manner that the conduit is not
damaged and the internal diameter of the conduit is not effectively reduced.
Bends shall be free from kinks, indentations or flattened surfaces.

10. Field bends shall be made only with bending equipment identified for the
purpose such as one shot bender. The radius of the curve of any field bend to
the centerline of the conduit shall not be less than indicated in NEC
Table 344.24.

11. Install no more than three 90° bends between boxes. Use conduit bodies to
make sharp changes in direction, for example around beams. If point to point
conduit runs exceeds 45 m in length, or exceeds total of three 90° bends, the
Contractor shall provide pull boxes in location that are accessible at all times.

12. Long radius prefabricated threaded elbows or bends may be used with metal
conduit but normal water or gas pipe elbows, fittings, welded connections or
slip joint fittings will not be permitted.

13. The conduits shall be securely fastened in place and supported at intervals not
exceeding 2 m for 20 and 25 mm rigid metal conduits and 3 m for all larger
sizes; and 900 mm in case of rigid non-metallic conduit. The conduit shall be
separated from masonry surfaces by hot-dip galvanized malleable iron spacer
assembled with conduit strap.

14. The conduits shall be securely fastened within 900 mm of each outlet box,
junction box, device box, cabinet, conduit body, or other conduit termination.
Fastening shall be permitted to be increased to a distance of 1.5 m where
structural members do not readily permit fastening within 900 mm.

15. Where a conduit enters a box, fitting, or other enclosure, a bushing with
locknuts shall be provided to protect the wire from abrasion unless the design
of the box, fitting, or enclosure is such as to afford equivalent protection. Use
conduit hubs to fasten conduit to sheet metal boxes in damp and wet location.

16. Conduits shall be reamed after cutting or threading to remove burs and sharp
edges. Ends shall be cut square and butt solidly into coupling, connectors and
hubs. Connection to the boxes shall be made with locknuts and bushing.

17. Non-metallic conduits shall be connected together by suitable couplings and


adhesives as recommended by manufacturer. The conduit shall be wiped dry
and clean before joining. The joint shall be made watertight. The joint shall be
allowed to cure for a minimum period of 20 minutes.

18. The conduits embedded in concrete shall be securely fastened to concrete


reinforcing rod at proper distance before pouring concrete to avoid uplifting of
concrete surface due to buoyancy of the conduit.

19. The number of conductors or cables in a conduit shall not exceed the
permitted percentage fill of the conduit as specified in NEC Table 1, Chapter 9.

20. All conduits shall be provided with a 2 mm galvanized pull wire installed in it.
Use suitable caps to protect installed conduit against ingress of moisture and
dust. The conduit shall be bonded and grounded as specified in
SECTION 16060.

21. Each piece of exposed conduit between boxes or equipment, regardless of


length and excluding nipples, shall have at least 1 supporting strap or clamp
and as many additional straps as may be required to support the conduit
entirely independent from junction boxes, fixtures or other components of the
wiring system during and after installation.

22. The Contractor shall supply factory fabricated couplings, connectors, unions
and fittings and supporting structure for installation of conduit. Fastening of
conduits, boxes or other equipment with flexible clips, field made straps or
nails will not be permitted.

23. Concealed or exposed conduits shall be supported by metal brackets or


hangers fixed by expansion bolts, toggle bolts or machine screws. "U" bolts
may be used to secure conduit to round steel structural components. The use
of wooden plugs or dowels (inserted in cavities or holes after wall fabrication)
will not be permitted as support.

24. Conduit running through unexcavated areas or under floor slabs lying directly
on earth fill shall be encased in 75 mm concrete envelope. Each underground
joint shall be sealed and made watertight with white lead.

25. The conduit shall be cleaned by mandrels and brush before installing cables or
wires in it.

26. Where the conduit entry into the cabinet, apply approved/suitable weather
proof silicon sealant around the conduit entry point.

C. Installation of Under-Floor Raceways

RACEWAY AND BOXES

1. Install under-floor duct as indicated on drawings and as per recommendations


of manufacturer.

2. The flush-floor ducts shall be adjusted in such a way that the removable cover
plate is laid flush with the finished floor. Install support at the ends and at
regular intervals not to exceed 1.5 m so they maintain proper elevation and
alignment of duct securely in slab or form.

3. The cover plates of flush-floor raceways shall be designed so that they provide
adequate mechanical protection and rigidity equivalent to junction box cover.

4. Approved metal flat top raceway of not over 100 mm wide shall be laid flush
with the concrete floor surface in office occupancies provided they are covered
with substantial linoleum that is not less than 1.6 mm thick or equivalent cover
flooring. Where more than 1 and not more than 3 single raceways are installed
flush with the concrete, they shall be contiguous with each other and joined to
form a rigid assembly.

5. Cast-in-place under-floor half round and flat top ducts not over 100 mm in
width shall have minimum of 20 mm concrete cover above the raceway.

6. Cast-in-place under-floor flat top ducts over 100 mm but not over 200 mm in
width shall have minimum of 25 mm concrete cover above the raceway for
minimum spacing of 25 mm between adjacent ducts. In case the spacing is
less than 25 mm, the minimum cover of concrete shall be 38 mm.

7. No conductors larger than that for which the raceway is designed shall be
installed in under-floor raceways. The combined cross-sectional area of all
conductors or cables shall not exceed 40% of the interior cross-sectional area
of the raceway.

8. Junction boxes shall be leveled to floor grade and sealed to prevent any
ingress of water or concrete. Junction boxes used with metal raceways shall
be metal and shall be electrically continuous with raceways.

9. Seal trenches to prevent entrance of water, concrete or foreign matter into


raceway system, before and during pouring of concrete or placing of fill.
Provide tape or sealing compound at joints as recommended by duct
manufacturer.

10. Inserts shall be leveled and sealed to prevent the entrance of concrete. Inserts
used with metal raceways shall be metal and shall be electrically continuous
with the raceway. Inserts set in or on fiber raceways before the floor is laid
shall be mechanically secured to the raceway. Inserts set in fiber raceways
after the floor is laid shall be screwed into the raceway.

11. When cutting through the raceway wall and setting inserts, chips and other dirt
shall not be allowed to remain in the raceway, and tools shall be used that are
designed so as to prevent the tool from entering the raceway and damaging
conductors that may be in place.

12. Electrically ground under-floor duct system components and ensure


continuous electrical conductivity of the system.

D. Installation of Boxes

1. General
a) Flush mounted boxes shall be installed without damaging wall insulation
or reducing its effectiveness.
b) Boxes shall not be fastened to ceiling support wires.
c) Boxes shall be supported independently of conduit.
d) Cast boxes shall be used in exterior locations exposed to weather and
wet location, and installed in slab on grade.
e) Interior of boxes shall be cleaned to remove dust, debris and other
material. Exposed surfaces shall also be cleaned and the finish restored.

2. Pull and Junction Boxes


a) Pull and junction boxes shall be provided in the wiring or raceway
systems wherever required for the pulling of wires, making connections
and mounting devices or fixtures. Boxes shall be suitable for use with
the raceway system.
b) In partitions of light steel construction, suitable fastening devices,
specially designed for this purpose shall be used to secure the boxes to
the building structure.
c) Boxes installed for concealed wiring shall be provided with suitable
extension rings or plaster covers as required.
d) Boxes for use in masonry block or tile walls shall be square cornered tile
type, or standard boxes with square cornered tile covers.
e) Boxes installed in wet locations and boxes installed flush with the
outside of exterior surfaces shall be gasketed.
f) Boxes shall be fixed with bolts and expansion shield on concrete or
brick, with toggle bolts on hollow units and with machine screws or
welded studs on steel work. In open overhead spaces, boxes threaded
to raceways need not be separately supported except where used for
fixture supports.
g) Boxes having threadless connectors always need to be supported from
the building structure. If conduit runs exceed 45 m in length or exceed
total bend limitations, pull boxes shall be provided at accessible
locations.

3. Outlet Boxes
a) Outlet Boxes shall be installed flush with the finished surface where
outlets occur in concrete finished walls or columns.
b) Outlet Boxes installed back to back shall be offset from each other
horizontally by a minimum of 150 mm to preclude noise transmission.
Provide minimum 600 mm separation in case of acoustic rated walls.
c) Outlet Boxes shall be fixed to masonry or concrete construction by
expansion anchors and to steel beams by clamps, bolts, etc.
d) Installation of boxes shall be coordinated with the location of equipment
for which they are used.

e) Boxes shall be orientated to accommodate orientation of wiring devices


as indicated on drawing.

3.03 TESTING

A. General

1. Contractor shall carry out all field tests in accordance with approved test
procedure to ensure that the raceway and boxes comply with the specifications
and operational requirements. All tests are subject to witnessing by the Royal
Commission representatives.

2. At least 4 weeks prior to scheduled tests, the Contractor shall submit to the
Royal Commission an outline of the plan and procedures to be used in
performing the site inspection and site tests. This outline shall include a brief
description of the test equipment, connection diagrams, proposed tests and
procedures, test sheets, calculations, reference drawings and minimum and
maximum test and performance values in conformance with applicable
standards that will be used to determine conformance with the specification
and acceptability of the equipment and installation.

3. Upon completion of installation and prior to final acceptance, each component


of each system shall be tested to the complete satisfaction of the Royal
Commission. The various equipment and systems shall be demonstrated to
operate in accordance with the requirements of the specifications.

4. The Contractor shall provide all test instrumentation, equipment, accessories,


tools and skilled manpower necessary for demonstration and putting the
equipment into operation.

5. All testing equipment shall be calibrated by approved authorities and


calibration certificate shall be provided to Royal Commission for their review
and approval. Before commissioning, the Contractor shall submit all necessary
calculations such as conduit fill to the Royal Commission for approval.

6. Upon completion of all testing, the Contractor shall submit 5 copies of a


certified report attesting that each test has been performed in accordance with
the approved test procedures. The report for each test shall include the name
of the person in-charge of test and the date of performance.

7. All factory and field test reports shall be included in Operation and
Maintenance Manuals.

8. All raceway system shall be tested to ensure electrical continuity of bonding


and grounding connection.
