ELECTRICAL IDENTIFICATION

PART 1 GENERAL

1.01 DESCRIPTION OF WORK

A. This Section specifies the minimum technical requirements for engineering, design,
manufacture, supply, storage, handling, and installation of electrical identifications as
per the Contract Documents.

B. The Contractor shall, as part of his full responsibility, check the electrical
identification tags or labels, nameplates, tapes, signs and markers as specified in the
Contract Drawings and Documents. When this check indicates that the specified
electrical identification tags or labels are not adequate, then the Contractor shall
notify the Royal Commission and take the necessary action and make the changes
with the approval of Royal Commission.

C. The Contractor shall also check and verify every requirements, aspects and details
necessary for coordinating with new or existing systems of electrical identification
tags or labels.

D. This Specification defines the minimum requirement for electrical identifications with
either IEC/SASO or North American based standards as specified in par. 1.04.

E. Where works interface with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) or Marafiq, the
equipment/materials and installation system shall comply with latest revision of the
interface companies’ standards, and shall be reviewed and approved by the interface
companies.

1.04 REFERENCES

A. The referred codes and standards are intended to provide an acceptable level of
quality for materials and products. In case of conflict between these standards and
the text of this Specification, the Specification text shall govern.

B. The latest revision of the referred codes and standards shall be used wherever
applicable. In case of conflict, the Contractor shall propose equipment conforming to

1.05 DEFINITIONS

A. anodize: To provide a hard, non-corrosive oxide film on the surface of a metal,


particularly aluminum, by electrolytic process in which the metal being treated serves
as the anode.

B. cable marker (sign post): The signs and symbols lay on the ground to identify the
underground routed power cables.

C. coating: A general term referring to any type of paint, or stain.

D. device: A unit of an electrical system that is intended to carry but not utilize electric
energy.

E. embossed: A condition in which an image is pressed into a material to create an


image that is raised above the normal level of the material.

F. engraved: A printing process whereby images such as copy or art are etched onto a
plate. When ink is applied, these etched areas act as small wells to hold the ink,
paper is forced against this die and the ink is lifted out of the etched areas creating
raised images on the paper.

G. equipment: A general term including material, fittings, devices, appliances,


luminaires (fixtures), apparatus, and the like used as a part of, or in connection with,
an electrical installation.

H. fabricate: To manufacture, form, assemble or construct metal products.

I. gloss: That property of a surface which causes it to have a mirror-like finish or the
ability to secularly reflect light.

J. identification: The act of designating or identifying something.

K. laminate: A process by which different materials are layered and then bonded
together using adhesives, pressure, and/or heat.

L. melamine: Trade name for phenolic sheet.

M. self-adhesive: A substance capable of holding materials together by surface


attachment.

N. tag or label: A label made with numerical or in alphanumeric designations on


cardboard, plastic or metal.

O. electrical warning tape: The electrical warning tape is made of Polyvinyl chloride
(PVC) material. It is used to identify the routing of underground power cable in duct
bank and directly buried routed cables, continuously route along with trench and lay
on the top of the red bricks, the safety cautions (designations) indicate on this tape
with black letters on yellow background.

P. warning sign: A precautionary note written on label to caution the persons of


possible hazard of danger.

1.06 SUBMITTALS

A. The Contractor shall submit to the Royal Commission, under the provisions of
SECTION 01330, the following items for review and approval before commencing
Work:

1. All vendor drawings and product data sheets and specifications shall be
generally provided as defined and particularly as listed below:

a) List of manufacturers of the various electrical identification tags or


labels, nameplates, tapes, signs and markers.

b) Manufacturer nameplates and labels with the information.

c) Manufacturer’s catalogs including installation instruction for electrical


identifications.

d) Quality Control Program as referenced in SECTION 01450.

e) Samples of electrical identification tags, or labels, nameplates, tapes,


signs and markers for approval by the Royal Commission.

f) Certificates of Compliance.

1.07 QUALITY CONTROL

A. The Contractor shall be responsible for the quality of Work and shall develop and
propose programs and methods of construction and testing to achieve the specified
quality to the approval of the Royal Commission in accordance with

SECTION 01450.

1.08 HEALTH AND SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

A. All works undertaken in relation to this Specification are to be completed in full


accordance with the respective health and safety requirements established by the
following:

1. Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

a) Legislation, Regulation, Standards and Codes.

2. Royal Commission Regulations

a) Standards, Contractual Conditions, and Health and Safety Systems.

3. Contractor

a) Health and Safety Standards and Systems as accepted by the Royal


Commission.

B. In the absence of any of the above, best accepted industry practice shall be
employed throughout.

1.09 SERVICE CONDITIONS

A. All the electrical identification tags or labels, nameplates, tapes, signs and markers
installed indoors shall be suitable for the following service conditions:

1. Ambient Air Temperature

a) Maximum of 40°C.

b) Minimum of 0°C

c) Average temperature, measured over a period of 1 month, shall be at a


maximum of 35°C.

2. Relative Humidity (Average Value)

a) For a period of 24 hours, shall not exceed 95%.

b) For a period of 1 month, shall not exceed 90%.

B. All the electrical identification tags or labels, nameplates, tapes, signs and markers
installed outdoor shall be suitable for the following service conditions:

1. Ambient Air Temperature

a) Maximum of 50°C.

b) Minimum of 0°C, unless a lower temperature is specified in the Contract


Drawings.

c) Average temperature, measured over a period of 1 month, shall be at a


maximum of 45°C.

2. Altitude shall be less than 1000 m, unless a higher altitude is specified on the
Contract Drawings and Documents.

3. Average Value of the Relative Humidity

a) For a period of 24 hours, shall not exceed 95%.

b) For a period of 1 month, shall not exceed 90%.

4. Relative humidity may be temporarily 100%.

C. All the electrical identification tags or labels, nameplates, tapes, signs and markers to
be installed in classified areas as indicated in the Contract Drawings and Documents
shall be suitable for such installation as per NEC Article 500 or other relevant
standards, as specified in par. 1.04.

1.10 DELIVERY, HANDLING AND STORAGE

A. The Contractor shall deliver, handle and store equipment and material units in
accordance with SECTIONS 01650 and 01660, as well as the following
requirements:

1. Materials and equipment shall be delivered to the site originally packed,


securely wrapped and labeled by manufacturer in unopened containers,
complying with manufacturer’s direction.

2. Materials shall be stored at job site strictly according to manufacturer’s


instruction.

3. Damage or distortion of the materials shall be avoided during handling and


shipment or transportation.

4. The Contractor shall be responsible for any damage to the materials or


equipment during storage, handling and transportation.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.01 GENERAL

A. All goods and products covered by these Specifications shall be procured, when
available, from an in-Kingdom manufacturer. However procurement of all goods and
products manufactured out-of-Kingdom or in kingdom must be approved by the Royal
Commission.

B. The Contractor shall furnish all the electrical identification tags or labels, nameplates,
tapes, signs and markers as specified in the Contract Drawings and Documents.
These electrical identifications shall be completely new, and shall be of the highest
quality available.

C. All the designations (letters) shall be inscribed on labels or tags in both English and
Arabic language and also clearly readable, these letters shall be indicated by
alphabetical and numerical designations as specified in the Contract Drawings and
Documents.

2.02 EQUIPMENT IDENTIFICATION LABELS

A. In addition to the requirements of the NEC, all the electrical equipment and devices
shall be labeled with solid black letters on a yellow background. The minimum letters
height shall be 10 mm (3/8 in.), or as approved by Royal Commission.

B. Letters shall be as specified in par. 2.01 C.

C. The labels for identification of electrical equipment and devices shall be self-
adhesive, engraved, laminated acrylic or melamine type and affixed by screws.
Adhesive only mounting is not acceptable.

D. All the labels shall be adhesive backed and suitable to be fixed on plain, curved and
irregular surfaces or fixed by screws and rivets as specified in the Contract Drawings
and Documents.

E. All the labels shall be gas and chemical resistant and shall not discolor or deteriorate
in age.

F. The labels shall be suitable for the application of indoor and outdoor electrical
equipment and devices as specified in pars. 1.09 A, B, or C, as required.

2.03 WIRE AND CABLE IDENTIFICATIONS

A. Color Identifications

1. The conductors of multi-wire lighting branch circuits and 2-wire lighting branch
circuits connected to the same system are recommended to confirm to the
following color codes. The white and gray color of wires is mandatory, the
others are recommendations:

a) 2- Wire Circuits: 1 black, 1 white or gray

b) 3 -Wire Circuits: 1 red, 1 black, and 1 white or gray

c) 4 -Wire Circuits: 1 red, 1 blue, 1 black and 1 white or gray

d) The white and gray wire is considered to be the grounded conductor and
shall be used for the “grounded neutral conductor” of the above circuits
as per the NEC Article 210.

2. Power cables shall have the following core (color) designations:

a) Color of single core cable or conductor shall be black or as specified in


the Contract Drawings and Documents.

b) 2 Cores: Black, White

c) On multi-conductor power cable, each phase shall be permanently


identified with different solid colors. Identification for 3-phase system
without ground application shall be as follows:
1) 3 Cores: Red, Yellow and Blue

d) Systems with ground or neutral application shall be as follows, and the


black color shall indicate the neutral conductor:
1) 4 Cores: Red, Yellow, Blue and Black

e) Color of insulated equipment grounding conductor shall be continuously


green or green with yellow strips.

3. Colors of multi-conductor control cables shall be identified in accordance with


Section 4 of IEC-60227-1 or Part 5 of ICEA S-73-532 (NEMA WC 57), Section
E.3.1, Method 1.

B. Labels for Identification

1. The conductor and cable (including power and control) identification labels
shall be Self-Adhesive Vinyl, preprinted with the alphabetical and numerical
designations as specified in par. 2.01 C, clearly readable, flexible,
transparent, self laminated with a clear, weather and chemical resistant
coating and matching wraparound adhesive tape for securing ends of legend
labels.

2. Color coded electrical identification tapes shall be Self-Adhesive Vinyl tape,


wraparound type and shall not be less than 0.08 mm (3 mils) thick by 25 to
51 mm (1 to 2 in.) wide, these tapes shall be flame retardant, weather,
abrasion, alkalies, acids and corrosion resistant.

3. All the conductor and cable identification labels shall be suitable for use at
each end of the terminations from source to destination points.

4. Heat shrinkable identification markers shall be used for HV joint/terminations


and each marker shall contain the following minimum information:

a) Names of jointer and his employer.

b) ID number of the jointer (if available).

c) Date of completion of joint/termination.

d) Name and ID number of Royal Commission/ Saudi Electricity Company-


Branch Supervisor.

5. All the conductor and cable identification labels shall be suitable for above and
below ground applications.

6. Conductor and cable identification labels shall be suitable for use on large and
small gage of wires and cables.

7. All the conductor and cable identification labels shall be permanently fixed and
should not be hand removable type.

8. All the conductor and cable identification labels shall be resistant to oil,
weather, humidity, heat and solvent, and also shall comply with the
requirements specified in pars. 2.02 E and F.

2.04 BUS BAR IDENTIFICATION TAGS

A. Phase identification of bus bars on tag holder shall be as follows:

1. Tag holder type of identification shall be used to install at line terminations, at


the ends of a bus run, bus tap-off positions, circuit breakers, disconnect
switches and transformer positions.

2. The phase identification of bus bars shall be identified by designations (R, Y,


B), and these designations (letters) shall be indented with 150 mm (6 in.) high
and filled with black baked enamel, and these designations shall be inscribed
on tag holder, as indicated in Figure 3A.

3. The tag holder shall be fabricated from anodized aluminum plate, vertical
mountable, of size 174 x 124 x 2 mm (6.85 x 4.88 x 0.079 in.).

4. The above mentioned tag holder shall be fabricated with 4 fixing holes of
10 mm diameter, 2 holes at each end of the aluminum plate.

B. Phase identification of bus bars by colors shall be as follows:

1. In indoor substations, each bus bar shall be identified by red, yellow, and blue
(R, Y, B) to indicate the phase to which it is connected.

2. For identification, each bus bar shall be painted with (R, Y, B) at intervals of
not more than 600 mm (23.62 in.) on all line termination, at the ends of a bus
run and at bus tap-off positions.

2.05 UNDERGROUND CABLE MARKERS

A. The routing of direct buried power cables in open ground shall be indicated by cable
markers installed vertically on the ground as specified in the Contract Drawings and
Documents, as detailed below and as shown in Figure 3B.

1. Redwood cable marker or sign post, (lumber) shall be in


size 100 x 100 x 1200 mm (4 x 4 x 48 in.) and shall be painted with 2 coats of
white and 1 coat of clear spar varnish before fixing.

2. If required or specified in the Contract Drawings and Documents, the


Contractor shall provide the tag holder (for installation on the redwood cable
marker), and the Contractor shall submit these tag holder details to Royal
Commission for their approval.

3. Warning Sign without arrows shall be in alphabetical designations as


specified in par. 2.01 C and these designations shall be indicated on
stainless steel plate of size 90 x 480 mm (3½ x 19 in.) with black letters on
yellow background as “UNDERGROUND ELECTRIC CABLE.” OR

4. Where required, underground cable route markers (Warning Sign) shall be


made with concrete trapezoid shaped, with red painted band around the top
portion without arrows and in alphabetical designations as specified in
par. 2.01 C and these designations shall be indicated on stainless steel plate
of size 90 x 480 mm (3½ x 19 in) with die stamped black letters on unpainted
background as “UNDERGROUND ELECTRIC CABLE.”

5. Warning Sign with single pointed arrow shall be solid black on yellow
background indicated on steel plate of size 90 x 90 mm (3½ x 3½ in.).

6. Warning Sign with double pointed arrows shall be solid black on yellow
background indicated on steel plate of size 90 x 90 mm (3½ x 3½ in.).

7. All the warning signs shall be fabricated with the fixing holes of 10 mm
diameter.

8. All the above mentioned signs shall comply with ANSI Z35.1 Appendix A9.1,
A9.2 and A9.5.

9. Colors for the above mentioned signs shall comply with BS 381C.

B. Underground power distribution cables either direct buried or in duct banks shall be
identified by cable tags made of strips of lead sheet, wrapped around the cable.
Cable tag number shall be stamped in English, lettering shall be at least 15 mm high.

2.06 UNDERGROUND WARNING TAPE

A. The underground electrical warning tape shall be used to identify the ducted and
directly buried cables, for the purpose of safety precautions during the digging for
operations and maintenance. The details of underground electrical warning tape shall
be specified as follows and as shown in Figure 3C:

1. The material of the warning tape shall be PVC.

2. Size of the underground electrical warning tape shall be 300 mm (12 in.) wide
x 0.15 mm (0.006 in.) thick.

3. Color of the underground electrical warning tape shall be of black designations


(letters) on yellow background. And these designations shall be as specified
in par. 2.01 C as “CAUTION CAUTION CONTACT ROYAL COMMISSION
BURIED ELECTRIC CABLE BELOW.”

2.07 ELECTRICAL CONDUIT MARKERS

A. On walls and ceilings, exposed electrical conduits shall be identified or marked with
the following paints:

1. All type of conduits used for electrical system shall be identified by standard
colors such as Galvanized, Aluminum, Off-White, Traffic Black or Cement
Gray.

2. Conduits used for fire alarm and detection and fire sprinkler systems shall be
identified by standard color and painted with Flame Red or color coded self-
adhesive vinyl marking tape shall be used.

3. If required or specified in the Contract Drawings and Documents, the electrical


conduits shall be labeled as specified in pars. 2.03 B.1, 7 and 8.

2.08 FENCE AND EQUIPMENT DANGER SIGNS

A. The electrical equipment, perimeter fence and boundary walls of the open air outdoor
and indoor substations or load centers shall be identified by warning signs (Danger
Signs), for the safety of personnel and property. The requirement of these Danger
Signs are as follows and shown in Figure 3D:

1. The danger sign for the electrical equipment shall be indicated on aluminum
plate in size 150 x 150 x 1.5 mm

2. The danger sign for the perimeter fence and boundary walls shall be indicated
on aluminum plate in size 510 x 510 x 1.5 mm and that of substation gate shall
be of size 255 x 255 x 1.5 mm

3. Corners of the danger sign aluminum plate shall be rounded and edges shall
be smooth without any sharp or rough edges.

4. Coloring and coating for the designations and symbols shall be made in high
gloss enamel system.

5. All the warning signs shall be fabricated with the fixing holes of 10 and 6 mm
diameter.

6. The following designations (letters) and symbols shall be applied for electrical
equipment, perimeter fence and boundary walls:

a) The designations (letters) and the symbol shall be indicated on the


above mentioned aluminum plate as “DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE” with
the symbol of Bones and Skull, and these designations and symbol shall
be in white color RAL 9001 with black outlines on red RAL 3000 oval
background with black border on a cement gray RAL 7033 square field,
the designations shall be as specified in par. 2.01 C.

b) The size of symbol and lettering shall be proportional to the overall


dimensions of the sign and plate.

7. In addition to the above warning sign, if required or specified in the Contract


Drawings and Documents, the following type of warning sign shall also be
used to fix on Gate and Fence of outdoor substations or load centers for the
electrical equipment, as shown in Figure 3E.

a) The warning sign for the gate shall be indicated on aluminum plate in
size 255 x 355 x 3 mm.

b) The warning sign for the fence shall be indicated on aluminum plate in
size 510 x 710 x 3 mm.

c) In signal word panel, the designations (letters) “DANGER” shall be


indicated on the above mentioned aluminum plate, in white color
lettering on red oval background with white border on a black
rectangular field, and these designations shall be as specified in
par. 2.01 C.

d) In message panel, the designations (letters) “HIGH VOLTAGE-KEEP


AWAY” shall be indicated on the above mentioned aluminum plate, in
black color lettering on white background, and these designations shall
be as specified in par. 2.01 C.

e) Other details shall also be applicable for these warning sign for the
aluminum plate, coloring and diameter of holes as specified in
pars. 2.08 A. 3, 4 and 5.

f) Lettering shall be scaled in proportion to the overall dimensions of the


plate.

g) Color of the sign shall comply with ANSI Z535.1.

2.09 IDENTIFICATION OF ELECTRICAL POLES

A. The designations (letters) for identification of electrical poles shall be as specified in


par. 2.01 C, and these designations shall be made either in numerical or in
alphabetical sequence as specified in the Contract Drawings and Documents.

B. Identification of Steel, Aluminum and Fiberglass Electrical Poles shall be as follows:

1. The designations shall be indicated on electrical poles with the following paints
or stencil ink, as specified:

a) Designations shall be painted on Steel poles with rust inhibitor exterior-

enamel (high gloss) black in color.

b) Designations shall be painted on Aluminum poles with exterior-acrylic


(high gloss) black in color.

c) Designations shall be painted on Fiberglass poles with flat stencil ink in


black color.

C. Identification of wooden electrical poles shall be as follows:

1. The wooden electrical poles shall be identified by designations (letters) with


solid 75 mm high black lettering on yellow background, and these designations
shall be as specified in par. 2.01 C and inscribed on tag holder.

2. The tag holder shall be fabricated from anodized aluminum plate, vertical
mount, in size 90 x 65 x 0.6 mm, as shown in Figure 3F.

3. The above mentioned tag holder shall be fabricated with 4 fixing holes of
10 mm diameter, 2 holes at each end of the aluminum plate.

2.10 MANUFACTURER NAMEPLATES AND LABELS

A. General

1. Manufacturer/vendor shall provide nameplates and relevant labels along with


their electrical equipment and devices. The nameplates shall be fixed on the
equipment and devices at appropriate visible place.

2. Manufacturer/vendor or Contractor shall provide details of nameplates and


labels to Royal Commission for their approval before commencement of the
work as specified in par. 1.06.

3. The nameplates and labels shall be of stainless steel or melamine plastic and
shall be suitable for installation in outdoor and indoor locations. They shall be
weather and corrosion proof, and shall be oil, gas, chemical resistant and as
specified in par. 1.09.

4. Size of the nameplates and labels shall comply with the manufacturer
standards.

5. Fixing holes of the nameplates shall be appropriate in size (diameter of fixing


holes), and shall be suitable for fastening or fixing with the screw or rivets.

6. The designations (letters), symbols, and diagrams on the nameplates and


labels shall be permanently and legibly marked as specified in par. 2.01 C.
All information indicated on the nameplate shall be in accordance with the
requirement of Royal Commission, approved local and international codes and
standards, Contract Drawings and Documents with the minimum following
information to the extent applicable:

a) Manufacturer’s name.

b) Vendor name.

c) Manufacturer’s company logo.

d) Equipment/Device serial number.

e) Job Order/Contract number (if applicable).

f) Year and place of manufacture.

g) Country of origin.

h) Equipment weight.

i) Rated power.

j) Rated voltage.

k) Number of phases.

l) Rated current.

m) Rated Power Factor.

n) Rated frequency.

o) Rated HP.

p) Rated RPM.

q) Brief diagrams.

r) Royal Commission Purchase Order number.

7. Manufacturer Identification and marking for wires and cables, splice,


termination kits, and connectors shall refer to SECTION 16120.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.01 GENERAL

A. The Contractor shall provide all materials, equipment, tools and labor as deemed
necessary for proper execution of the work.

B. All the Identification tag numbers for equipment and devices shall be as specified by
the Royal Commission.

C. Before installation of identification tags or labels, the Contractor shall verify all the tag
numbers and nameplates for the equipment and device numbers with the details as
specified in the Contract Drawings and Documents.

D. All installation details, write up on handling of the equipment/materials, instruction


manuals and latest revised approved drawings and documents furnished by the
Contractor or manufacturer shall be available at site prior to installation of the
identification tags or labels, sign boards, and nameplates. These details shall be
reviewed by the Royal Commission’s representative. The details and instructions
furnished in these documents and as approved by Royal Commission shall be
followed carefully during installation of the identification tags or labels, sign boards,
and nameplates at site.

E. All equipment/materials moved to the installation site shall be inspected for damage
or deterioration during storage.

3.02 INSTALLATION

A. General

1. All the identifications tags or labels, sign boards, and nameplates shall be
installed at easily visible locations approved by Royal Commission.

2. The Contractor shall install identification tags, sign boards, and nameplates
after the completion of work as directed by the Royal Commission
representative.

3. The Contractor shall install identification tags, sign boards, and nameplates in
accordance with codes and standards, manufacturer’s written instructions, and
as indicated on the Contract Drawings and Documents.

4. The surface (place of fixing the labels) of the equipment and devices shall be
cleaned thoroughly and shall be free from dust, oil, and grease, before
installing SELF-ADHESIVE LABELS.

5. Factory made color of conductors and cables for identification shall be


accepted as specified in par. 2.03 A, or in accordance with NEC Articles 200
and 210, for identification of wires and cables. Colored self-adhesive tape shall
be used and wrapped around on the wires and cables at each end of the
terminations

6. For outdoor terminations identification tags or labels shall be installed on the

cable.

7. Indoor terminations identification tags or labels shall be installed on inside


surface of the cable box/compartment.

8. The Contractor shall verify the painting on the bus bars and it shall comply with
the applicable local, international and manufacturer’s codes and standards.

9. UNDERGROUND CABLE MARKERS (warning post) shall be installed along


the edge of the trench horizontally (laid on the ground) and vertical to identify
the directly buried routed power cables, and these cable markers shall be
placed at interval of not more than 50 m.

10. On straight route, the cable marker shall be installed with 2 arrow sign to
indicate cable route direction.

11. On right angle turn, the cable marker shall be installed with 2 signs each
having an arrow pointing to the cable route direction. The signs shall be placed
on the applicable side of the post.

12. On oblique turn, the cable route direction shall be indicated by 2 warning posts
each having an arrow. Refer to Figure 3B.

13. The installation of underground power distribution cables tags (lead strip type,
refer par. 2.05 B) either direct buried or in duct banks shall be installed at
each end of the run, at each direct burial route marker location, at each duct
entry in manholes and buildings, and in cable trenches at approximately 5 m
intervals.

14. UNDERGROUND CABLE WARNING TAPE shall be installed above the red
concrete tile and sand layer of the directly buried and duct bank system of
cable route.

15. Underground cable warning tape shall be laid continuously on straight route
and at each turn during the cable trench backfilling.

16. The minimum laying depth of the warning tape shall be 250 mm (9.84 in.) from
top surface of the warning tape to the grade level of Direct Buried and Duct
Bank systems of cable route, as shown in Figures 3A to 3L in
SECTION 16120 and as specified in par. 1.03 Ι.

17. The EXPOSED CONDUITS as specified in par. 2.07 A.2, shall be painted
continuously at field or site from starting point to the end point, in accordance
with the paint manufacturer’s written instruction.

18. DANGER SIGNS shall be installed on electrical facility perimeter fence at


1.5 m above the ground level, and located such that the distance between
signs or a sign and fencing corner shall not exceed 25 m.

19. Danger signs shall be mounted 1.5 m above the ground level and 1 m to the
right side of all substation gateways or walkways.

20. Danger signs shall be fixed at aesthetic locations with placement approved by
the Royal Commission.

21. Fencing tie wire shall be used to fix the danger signs to chain link fence.
Danger signs shall be mounted on masonry walls and shall use 10 mm
diameter by 48 mm long, hexagonal nut type, concrete anchors.

22. DANGER SIGNS (EQUIPMENT) and identification labels shall be fixed to the
front and clearly visible location of the equipment.

23. For equipment with 2 doors, the danger sign shall be fixed on the left door and
the identification label shall be fixed on the right door. Both the danger sign
and identification labels shall be fixed at the center of the respective doors.

24. For equipment with only 1 door, the danger sign and identification label shall
be fixed on the center of the door; the identification label shall be fixed 250 mm
below the danger sign.

25. The danger sign and identification labels shall be fixed by screws and rivets or
shall use self-adhesive backed tapes as specified in the Contract Drawing and
Documents.

26. Electrical poles for steel, aluminum, and fiberglass shall be labeled with paint
as specified in par. 2.09 B and these identification labels (numbers) shall be
made by spray can. The location of identification of the mentioned poles shall
be at the front and shall be clearly readable at the height of 1000 mm from top
level of the pole foundation to the center of the letters.

27. For wooden poles, identification tags or labels shall be fixed on 4000 mm from
ground level to the center of the letters, and these labels shall be fixed with hot
dipped galvanized pole dating nails.

28. Location of identification of the wooden poles shall be at the front and shall be
clearly readable.

29. Where the above poles are installed in the median of dual carriageways
(roadways), pole identification shall be visible from both sides of carriageways.

30. Manufacturer shall install or fix their nameplates or labels at the front and shall
be clearly readable. These nameplates or labels shall be fixed permanently
with screws and rivets, or if required, the self-adhesive backed labels shall also
be used.
