D = Decide & Define
Overview and Objective

The objective of this Fun Sheet is to help you complete step one of the
program: decide and define one inspiring, important goal to complete.
In the training, we talked about two big obstacles that prevent us from
following through:

1 2
WO R K I N G O N TO O U N C L E A R , F UZ Z Y
M A N Y T H I N G S AT O N C E O U TCO M E S

We have the power to overcome both of those obstacles and master the
ability to finish what we start.

Naturally, most of us have a variety of goals we’d like to reach in all

areas of our life. But, for the purpose of this training program, you must
challenge yourself to decide upon a single goal to focus on and define that
goal in a way that is specific, measureable and achievable.

Once you master these follow-through steps and experience the power
of bringing one important project to life faster than you ever imagined
possible — you can apply these skills to other projects and goals, too.

DECIDE IT
Exercise Instructions

Go to a quiet place with your journal or a fresh online document. (Hint: If

you’re already clear on which project or goal you’d like to focus on for this
program, skip straight to #3.)

/
 Shut off your phone, close email and eliminate all distractions.

1 LIST ALL THE GOALS OR PROJECTS YOU’RE CONSIDERING.

These goals or projects should be exciting, challenging and deeply

important to you. Each one, if you finished it, would make a tremendous
positive impact on your business and life. (We’ve provided some space
here, but please write in your own journal or use a separate document if
you’d like more room!)

2 EVALUATE THEM.
www.getwsodo.com
www.getwsodo.com
One by one, work through each possible goal or project by asking yourself
the following questions.

P O S S I B L E G OA L
O R P R OJ E C T N A M E :

What’s the personal payoff for making this happen? What impact will reaching
this goal have on my life — mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically or
financially?

How will this project ultimately benefit others? What’s the payoff for my family,
team, customers, community or greater society?

Pg. 3 F O L LOW-T H R O UGH FO RM ULA © M arie Forleo Int ern at ion al m arieforleobsc h o o l .c om
Who will I have to become in order to make this project a reality? What skills,

www.getwsodo.com
habits or character traits do I need to develop in order to bring this idea to life?
www.getwsodo.com

Once you’ve evaluated each project or goal, tap into

your heart, mind and intuition and ask yourself:

Given all considerations, which one of these

goals or projects would mean the most if
I could follow through and complete it?

3 NOW IT’S TIME TO DECIDE.

What’s the single project or goal that — if you finished it — would make
the most tremendous positive impact on your business and life?
Write it below.

STEP 2

DEFINE IT www.getwsodo.com

Now that you’ve decided on your single project or goal, you must define
exactly what success will look like when you’re done.

M A K E S U R E YO U R G OA L I S :

 SPECIFIC
 MEASURABLE
 A C H I E VA B L E

These simple parameters will give you the best chance for follow-through
success. You’ll have no room for confusion, delay or excuses. You’ll be able
to say definitely that, “Yes, I’m done and I’ve followed through!”

Exercise Instructions

Use your journal, online document or the space below to complete the
following.

DESCRIBE YOUR GOAL OR PROJECT IN A SPECIFIC

1 CONCRETE WAY.

Broad, general descriptions are kryptonite if you’d like to master following

through. Include clear and measurable time frames and make sure this
goal is possible for you to achieve.

COMMIT TO HOW OFTEN YOU’LL RECORD AND REVIEW
2 www.getwsodo.com
YOUR PROGRESS.
www.getwsodo.com
Is it daily, weekly or at some other interval? What tool, method or system
will you use? Choose a frequency and tracking method that’s appropriate
for your project and lifestyle.

For instance, consider setting a standing appointment every Friday to

review your week’s follow-through progress. You’ll have a set time to review
what worked and what didn’t, so you can adjust for the week ahead. Here
are some examples to spark your imagination:

I’ll track my progress daily by using my morning journal.

I’ll use my work notebook to write down whether or not I hit my daily goal,

and review my week’s progress every Friday at 4pm. That will help me

adjust my game plan before the upcoming week.

Jen and I now have a weekly accountability call set up on

Wednesdays at noon to do a 10-minute check in.

Now write down how frequently you’ll track your progress and what
method or tool you’ll use to do so.

3 ACHIEVABILIT Y GUT CHECK.
www.getwsodo.com
www.getwsodo.com
Though moonshot goals can be wildly inspiring, the purpose of this
program is to strengthen your follow-through muscles. That’s why it’s vital
that your project or goal is something you can actually accomplish.

Set yourself up for success, not stress. Re-examine your goal and make
sure it’s bold but still doable. Write 3 reasons why you know you can
successfully follow through on this goal.

REASON #1

REASON #2

REASON #3

If you have any doubt, re-adjust your goal

so that it’s something you know you can
make happen with focus and dedication.

4 IS THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT TRUE OR FALSE?

Yes Marie! My goal is now specific,

measurable and achievable!

TR U E FAL S E

If you circled True, great work!

You’ve completed part one of The Follow-Through Formula.

If you circled False, get back to work my friend.

Do whatever it takes to adjust your goal so that it’s specific,
measurable and achievable. You got this!
