ACTIVITY 2
1. Form a group of four members within your LAC, preferably with fellow teachers in your
respective learning area.

2. Using the curriculum guide and a list of the MELCs, choose MELCs in the first quarter and
unpack these into learning objectives.

3. Each team will present their unpacked learning objectives. Discussion and processing will
follow each presentation. Suggestions and insights from each group will be considered in
enhancing the learning objectives.
Repeat the above process but instead of unpacking, each team will now combine at least
two MELCs of their choice. Group deliberation will be observed in order to arrive at a
consensus.
Discuss and jot down the synthesis of the presentations in your Study Notebook.

The table shows that the all competencies for the first quarter from the MELCs in Araling
Panlipunan 5 Quarter 1 are related and has a common topic or content, thus can be combined into
one major topic. MELCs-based competency number one discusses on the “Lokasyon ng
Pilipinas”. Then, MELCs-based competencies number 2 and 3 tackles about the “Pinagmulan ng
Pilipinas at mga sinaunang tao sa Pilipinas based on different theories. Another group of
competencies that can be combined are MELCs-based competency number 4, 5 and 6, with a
common topic on the “Pamumuhay ng mga Pilipino” but in different timelines. Lastly, 7 and 8
LC focuses on the “Pagkakabuo ng Konteksto ng Lipunan o Pamayanan sa Pilipinas noong
unang Panahon”.

This activity only implies that the combination of the MELCs do not affect the attainment
of both the content and performance standards of the curriculum.
