Module 2 - 3: Inclusive Education in Other Countries

Reflection:

Upon reading this module, what insights did you gain as pre-service teachers? How important

Special Education is in the system?

As a pre-service teacher and based on this module, I can see that different countries had

taken actions in empowering those with special educations. The Individuals with Disabilities

Education Act (IDEA) is an act that made it possible for special education to manifest and

provide free and appropriate public education that suffices the needs of the concerned children.

I’ve learned that children from the special education has their differences in terms of

teaching and learning strategies. I should keep in mind is the learner’s attitude and capacity to

learn because as a future teacher, I must be able to adjust myself to satisfy the needs of my

students in the field of their learning. I’ve also discovered that I got a lot to learn in order to

teach children that have their own special needs.

Special Education is truly important for the actual success of education because education

won’t be a success if we forsake those who possibly had the chance to overcome their limits.
V. Evaluation

In a separate sheet of bond paper, I want you to answer the following questions:

1. What is the most important thing for you to learn in special education and inclusive

education?

Based on my own opinion, I think the most important thing that I should keep in mind is

the learner’s attitude and capacity to learn because as a future teacher, I must be able to adjust

myself to satisfy the needs of my students in the field of their learning.

2. What practical activity would be valuable for me in learning about special education?

The only practical activity that would be truly valuable for me in learning about special

education is experiential learning. This is the type of learning where I have to experience myself

on how to teach those with special education.
