Decimals Dash: Directions
Game Set Up:
• Each player places a game piece at start and begins with one flat hundred block from a base ten
block set. This represents 100 hundredths. Each player also needs a recording page and pencil.
• You then need a pile of additional base ten blocks in the center, including ten rods, and ones. Again, for
this game, these will represent decimals: tenths and hundredths.
• Grab a die and then you’re ready to play!

How to Play:
• Player one begins by rolling the die and moving that many spaces on the game board.
• They then add or subtract as shown on the space using their base ten blocks. Exchange blocks as
necessary in order to subtract the exact amount. Record your answer on the recording page.
• If a subtraction amount is shown that you are not able to do (because you don’t have enough blocks),
you go back to your previous space and lose that turn.
• Players then take turns in the same way, moving along the gameboard and adding or subtracting the
decimal amounts shown, both with blocks and on their recording page.

Scoring & Winning the Game:

• The first player to cross the finish line earns an additional +0.25 to their final score. The last player
to cross the finish line loses -0.10 from their final score.
• Once all players have crossed the finish line, the player with the highest score wins!
