Introductory Message

Welcome to TLE/TVL – HE (Beauty Care- Nail Care Services)!

The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts of the


Schools Division of Escalante City and DepEd Regional Office VI - Western Visayas
through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD). This is developed
to guide the learning facilitators (teachers, parents and responsible adults) in helping
the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum.

The Learning Activity Sheet is self-directed instructional materials aimed to


guide the learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and time using the
contextualized resources in the community. This will also assist the learners in
acquiring the lifelong learning skills, knowledge and attitudes for productivity and
employment.

For learning facilitator:

The TLE/TVL – HE (Beauty Care - Nail Care Services) Activity Sheet will
help you facilitate the leaching-learning activities specified in each Most Essential
Learning Competency (MELC) with minimal or no face-to-face encounter between you
and learner. This will be made available to the learners with the references/links to
ease the independent learning.

A. IMPLEMENTING RULES AND REGULATIONS OF CHAPTER XII –

“TONSORIAL AND BEAUTY ESTABLISHMENTS” OF THE CODE ON

SANITATION OF THE PHILIPPINES (P.D. 856)

4.3 Solid Waste Management

4.3.1 Every room in the establishment shall be provided with at least two refuse

receptacles or containers with swing cover and made of impervious materials,

one for biodegradable and one for non-biodegradable wastes.

4.3.2 All receptacles or containers shall be provided with tight fitting lids or

covers, so constructed and maintained as to be vermin-proofed and easily

cleaned. The receptacles or containers shall be lined with black-colored plastic

trash bags for non-biodegradable and green colored plastic trash bags for

biodegradable materials.

4.3.3 after being emptied, each container shall be thoroughly cleaned inside and

outside with water, soap and brush.

4.3.4 storage of refuse shall be done in such a way that it shall be inaccessible

to vermin or from becoming a potential insect and rodent attractants and

harborage or causes of nuisance.

B. IMPLEMENTING RULES AND REGULATIONS OF REPUBLIC ACT 9003

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 59 of Republic Act No. 9003, otherwise

known as the “Philippine Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000,” and

by virtue of Executive Order No. 192, Series of 1987, the Department of

Environment and Natural Resources hereby adopts and promulgates the

following rules and regulations:

RULE IX. WASTE SEGREGATION AT SOURCE

Section 1. Waste Segregation and Volume Reduction at Source

Volume reduction at the source shall be the first priority of the ecological SWM

system. All LGUs shall actively promote among its constituencies the reduction

and minimization of wastes generated at source; responsibility for sorting and

segregation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes shall be at the

household level and all other sources.

The following shall be the minimum requirements for segregation and storage of

solid waste pending collection:

a. There shall be a separate container for each type of waste from all

sources. For bulky waste, it will suffice that the same be collected and

placed in a separate container and in designated areas;

b. The solid waste container depending on its use shall be properly marked

or identified for on-site collection as “compostable,” “recyclable” or

“special waste,” or any other classification as may be determined by the

Commission.

C. Based on the implementing rules and regulations of P.D. 856 - Chapter XII and

RA 9003 - Rule IX, the following solid waste management are to be observed at

source including beauty salons:

 Every salon establishment shall provide separate waste bin or receptacle

properly marked as Biodegradable or Compostable, Non-biodegradable or

Special Wastes and Recyclable.

 Receptacles or containers shall have a tight- fitting lids or covers lined with

plastic trash bags.

 Dispose wastes to a designated area and containers for on-site collection.

 Clean containers thoroughly after being emptied.
