Performing Preventive Maintenance of Tools and Equipment

I. Learning Competency with Code

After going through this learning activity sheet, you should be able
to:
Perform preventive maintenance of tools and equipment
(TLE -AFAC9-12UT-0b-2)
1. Clean tools and equipment after use in line with farm procedures.
2. Perform routine check-up and maintenance
3. Perform preventive maintenance by following the procedures in
sharpening and oiling farm tools and equipment.

II. Background Information for Learners

The best way to prolong the useful life of farm tools, implement
and equipment are through routine check-ups. If farm tools are well
maintained, farmers can save time and effort at work and resulting
an efficient farm operation.
To maintain the working or moving parts of farm tools,
implements and equipment, it is necessary to clean and apply oil or
lubricate to these moving parts. Sharpen the edge by maintaining the
factory bevel or angle of cutting tools and keep it in a safe place are
also some ways to preserve these farm tools. Remember that taking
extra care of farm tools, implements and equipment will avoid
unexpected breakdown while at work and the replacement of
expensive parts.
