EDUC 103 – FACILITATING LEARNER-CENTERED TEACHING

BRIEF LESSON PLAN


“ANG PILIPINAS SA PANAHON NG ESPANYOL”
Objectives:

At the end of the discussion, the students are expected to:


a. Discuss the change in the residence of the Filipinos during the Spanish period.
b. Formulate claims of facts to the Spanish Colonial rule.
c. Create a role play that will show the type of settlement of the Filipinos during the
Spanish Colonization in the Philippines.

c. Materials
A soft copy or book, a cellphone, a laptop or other electronic device, a Power point, and
an Internet connection are all needed.

Procedure
a. An ice-breaker or drill will be performed prior to the start of the discussion. Before
moving on to the lesson proper, there will be a short recap of the previous subject
following the exercise.
b. Drill
 Create a PowerPoint presentation with scrambled words and have the students
answer the questions.

c. Review
 Using the “INDEX CARD” program, whoever is chosen FROM THE TEACHER
NAME LIST IN THE PAPER will receive a summary of the previous discussions.

d. Motivation
 Divide the students into two groups. Allow them to respond to the “Let Us Try”
question on pages 1-3 of the module to see if they have any prior knowledge of
the subject. Check and evaluate their answers.

e. Presenting the New Lesson


 Before proceeding to the lesson proper, use the “INDEX CARD” again and the
chosen student will give his or her insights for the said topic.

f. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills


 Discuss the lesson using the module Big Picture A (refer to page 12-15 to 20-
23). While the discussion is on-going, the teacher will ask questions from
time to time to check if the students are paying attention and for the
students to voice out their insight or even questions for further
understanding of the lesson.

g. Making abstractions about the lesson


 The following are some questions to ask the students:

1. What distinguishes Spanish colonization of the Philippines from that of other countries?
2. What were the advantages of Spanish colonization in the Philippines?
3. What happened to the Philippines after it became a Spanish colony?

H. Evaluation
 the teacher will utilize the “BRAINSTORMING ACTIVITY” and group the students.
They will be given the task to make a creative presentation on what they
understood in the discussion. Be it through a brochure, instructional video,
editorial cartooning or slogans.

 “INDEX CARD”
 The teacher calls a student and the teacher should spin the “PICK THE
INDEX CARD” and whoever student is chosen will give his/her insights
about the question in order to determine their level ofunderstanding.

I. Additional Activities for Remediation/Enhancement


 Describe the Spanish colonial rule in the Philippines in at least 200 words.
 Quiz on the next meeting about the topic being discussed.
