GENERAL
Operations of following aircraft are not permitted:
- Jets without noise certification or not complying with the terms of ICAO Annex 16,
Vol I, Chapter 3.
- Propeller-driven aircraft exceeding 5700kgs MTOW without noise certification or
not complying with the terms of ICAO Annex 16, Vol I, Chapter 3, 5, 6 or 10.
Pilots flying single-engined variable pitch propeller aircraft are strongly advised to
take all possible measures for noise abatement.
ARRIVALS
Approach paths below the PAPI vertical approach guidance are prohibited within
IRE 2.5 DME.
Runway 01: Single-engined aircraft shall plan their approach so as to pass Karsnes
peninsula at 500' or above.
DEPARTURES
Runway 01: All aircraft shall plan to reach the highest possible altitude over DER,
using normal take-off procedures. Aircraft in LEFT-hand circuit shall fly
normal circuit. Traffic planning to make a RIGHT-hand turn after take-off
shall continue climbing on runway heading to 1000’ or until passing Rey-
kjavik harbour (fuel tanks in Oerfirisey) before proceeding on course.
Single-engined aircraft shall plan their take-off to endeavour to reach at
least 400' when passing DER.
Runway 31: If a RIGHT turn is planned after take-off, maintain runway heading to
800' before initiating the turn.
NIGHTTIME RESTRICTIONS
Traffic allowed:
1. Ambulance and emergency flights;
2. The Icelandic Coastguard;
3. International flights that use BIRK as alternate airport;
4. Landings of scheduled flights subject to unforeseen delays;
5. Humanitarian flights.
REVERSE THRUST
The use of reverse thrust or ground fine pitch operations should be kept to a minimum
during landing.
RUN-UP TESTS
Engine test runs, after maintenance, shall only take place during the following hours:
MON-FRI 0800-2200LT, weekends and public holidays 1000-1800LT. Engine test runs are
restricted on public holidays. The Icelandic Transport Authority will permit engine test
runs from 0745LT during weekdays if necessary.

TAXI PROCEDURES
When a taxi clearance contains a taxi limit beyond a RWY, it will contain an explicit clearance to cross
or an instruction to hold short of that RWY.
If a taxi clearance does not include instructions to cross a RWY, pilot shall hold at RWY holding points
and request a clearance to cross the RWY.
