1. Opening/ Greetings Good Morning Grade 4 pupils, It’s


Preliminaries a brand new day and a great chance
Teacher’s Introduction to learn.
So, Come on, get your pen, paper

A. Objectives For today’s lesson you should be


able to solve routine and non-
routine word problems involving
division of 3-to-4 digit numbers by
1-to-2 digit numbers including
money using appropriate problem
solving strategies and tools.

2. Motivation I will show you different pictures


of animals and tell me where do
you usually see these animals? In
the farm? In the zoo or in the
house?
These animals are what we call pet
animals.
Who among you have pets in your
house?
That’s great!

How do you take care of them?

Very Good, you are taking care of


them by giving them their basic
needs like food, water, shelter and
love.

This time, I’ll be reading you a


short story about a boy named
Adam and how he takes care of his
pet.

Are you now ready to listen?

Good, so let’s start.

3. Discussion Reading a short story. The title of our story for today is
“Caring for Billy”

Adam loves animals so much. He


loves taking care of his pets. He
loves taking care of injured and
homeless animals.
One day, when he was out in the
playground playing with his
friends, he saw a small, brown bird
with a broken wing. He walked
over to it and picked it up.
Adam’s friends went home with
him and helped him bandage the
bird’s wings. Everybody loved the
bird so much. They named him
Billy. Billy became Adam and
friends’ favorite pet.
One Monday, Lisa, one of
Adam’s friends, brought 132
kernels of corn. Adam and his fried
knew that Billy only eats 12
kernels of corn everyday. Now,
they wanted to know how many
days it would take Billy to eat the
132 kernels of corn.
