Lesson Plan in Grade 7

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
 Define greenhouse, greenhouse gases and greenhouse effect.
 Describe greenhouse, greenhouse gases and greenhouse
effect.
 Relate the concept of greenhouse to the increasing temperature
in the atmosphere.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

 Topic: Greenhouse Effect
 References: Science 7 Book (Learner’s guide, page 314-320)
 Materials: Visual Aids, pictures, strips and chalk

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activities
- Prayer
- Greetings
- Attendance
- Review
- Motivation:
“ 4 Pics 3 Words”

B. Lesson Proper

I. ACTIVITY
The activity is entitled “Act it out”. To do this, the class
will be divided into 4 groups and they will be having a task by
group. They are task to choose their actors of the group. Each
group will be having six actors/actresses. The teacher will give
strips for their role. After that, the actors will get ready to act.
February 20, 2019

The teacher will read the story and they have to act it on the
spot simultaneously. (7-10 minutes).

II. ANALYSIS
In connection to such activity, the students will be ask
some questions which are as follows:
1. How does a greenhouse work?
2. What is a greenhouse effect?
3. Why is greenhouse compared to our Earth’s atmosphere?

III. ABSTRACTION
In the Philippines, greenhouse is used by commercial
plant growers or plant lovers.
 Greenhouse- It allows sunlight to enter but prevent heat from
escaping. The transparent covering of the greenhouse allows
visible light to enter without obstruction. It warms the inside of the
greenhouse as energy absorbed by the plants, soil, and other
tings inside the building. The transparent covering also prevents
the heat from leaving by reflecting the energy back into the walls
and preventing outside winds from carrying it.

The Earth’s atmosphere is compared to a greenhouse.

It contains trace gases such as carbon dioxide, water
vapor, methane, and ozone aside from nitrogen and oxygen. like
the glass in greenhouse, the trace gases have a similar effect on
Sun’s rays. They allow sunlight to pass through resulting in the
warming up of Earth’s surface keeping the temperature suitable
for life on Earth. The process by which the Earth’s atmosphere
warms up is called “greenhouse effect” and trace gases are
referred to us “greenhouse gases”.

 Greenhouse effect- Is a natural process and warms the

earth. Without the greenhouse effect, Earth would be very
cold, too cold for living things such as plants and animals.
February 20, 2019

More carbon dioxide means that more heat is trapped in

Earth’s atmosphere. More heat cannot return back into space.
More heat trapped by the carbon dioxide means a warmer
Earth.

IV. APPLICATION
The teacher will ask the following questions:
 What will happen to the Earth if there were no
greenhouse gases?
 Why greenhouse is important for the commercial
plant growers and lovers?

IV. EVALUATION
IDENTIFICATION (¼ sheet of paper).
1. It is used to grow seedlings for the plant lovers.
Greenhouse
2. They will trap reflected sun rays to warm the earth.
Greenhouse gases
3. A natural process that warms the earth .
Greenhouse effect

ENUMERATION
4-5. Give at least two greenhouse gases that trapped sun light.
Methane, Carbon dioxide, Nitrous oxide, water vapor and
ozone.

V. ASSIGNMENT
In a ¼ sheet of paper.
