“Research is a process of steps

used to collect information to

increase our understanding of
a topic or an issue.”
- John W. Creswell

Research is the most important and powerful tool because it

helps us expand our knowledge and think critically about the issue.
Researching also helped us debunk myths about certain issues
and helped us understand the accurate information behind
the problems that we are facing. That’s why the STEM
strand highly encourages its students to learn the
importance of research and explore other ideas
for us to create a better solution and gain
knowledge for the better future.

Good research follows a systematic approach to capture accurate

data. Researchers need to practice ethics and a code of conduct
while making observations or drawing conclusions. The analysis
is based on logical reasoning and involves both inductive and
deductive methods. Research is an original and systematic
investigation undertaken to increase existing knowledge and
understanding of the unknown to establish facts and principles.

We can improve our ability to deal with future challenges by conducting study. According to
Mariette DiChrstina, editor in chief of Scientific American Fundamental STEM, research is
critical to assisting humanity in dealing with future challenges. “Our nation’s capacity to deal
with today’s urgent challenges, ensuring energy security to treating diseases to living
sustainability in a finite planet, will necessitate basic scientific innovations,” adds Christina.
Today’s STEM research will aid in the development of technologies that we can only dream
of utilizing. The research lays the groundwork for where they may generate difficulties for
students, and how they might be tailored to be more successful. Knowledge is generated
via the advancement of science, technology, and research.
When this information is used, it aids in the resolution or alleviation of development
limitations. It also allows for the exploration of new development prospects. So, not only
is research an invaluable tool for expanding critical knowledge, but it is also the most
dependable way for us to begin to understand the complexities of various issues, to
maintain our integrity as we disprove lies and uphold important truths, to serve as the seed
for analyzing convoluted sets of data, and to serve as nourishment, or mental exercise.
