1. “People in their area have enough of what they need”. Explain. (3pts)

People’s mindset is to live in the place where resources can be found so that they
can survive. Our Environment greatly offers everything for us to survive and we just
have to used it but maintain its availability at the same time. Wherever in the world,
the environment gives equal benefit to its people even though it has different ways of
living but the most important part is, we know that we can have our resources as
long as we take the opportunity to look for it.

2. Why there is a need to transform MDG’s into SDG’s? (3pts)

The MDG’s are the goals which needs to be achieved by 2015 was initially attained
but unfortunately, even up to this day, it is still an ongoing fight to achieve
sustainability that’s why, this agenda continues and transformed to SDG’s which
aims to end the MDG’s works in 20130 and to focus on building a sustainable world
where environmental sustainability, social inclusion, and economic development are
equally valued. The span to fairly achieved the SDG’s are 15 years starting 2015 up
to 2030.

3. What is the purpose of the three pillars of sustainability? (3pts)

The three pillars of sustainability are Environmental, Economic and Social


Sustainability. These three pillars are the core and the keys to have a sustainable
Earth. The purpose of these pillars is to provide awareness to the people that these
are the factors affecting sustainability and these needs actions and programs to
reduce/stop the bad effects of its operations. These three are the guidelines that
should be addressed to all nations which are to maintain and restored what it has
lost so that no one will suffer in the scarcity of resources.

4. How the UN did move SDG’s from paper to practice? (3pts)

The United Nations agencies created MAPS, their way to achieve development
which means Mainstreaming, Acceleration, Policy and Support. First, we know that
SDG’s are integrated that’s why UN created Mainstreaming, a way of finding key
entry points to make progress across the SDG’s. Second is Acceleration, it is a way
to find accelerators that will boost local economies and build more inclusive
communities. Last id providing Policy Support to education, jobs, local governance,
healthcare, biodiversity and clean energy to back up the implementation of SDG’s.

5. Why is UN leaded by UNDP come up to an idea of developing and


materializing Millennium Development goals? What triggers the action? (3pts)

Due to extreme poverty, in the year 2000, the 189 countries come up with a
Millennium Development Goals (MDG’S). These 8 goals were to combat poverty,
hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation, and discrimination against
women and is intended to achieve within 15 years.

6. Is SDG by UNDP a mandatory Development Plant? Why or Why not? (3pts)

SDG is a mandatory Development Plan that is made by UNDP. Governments in


every country are expected to take ownership and establish national frameworks for
the achievement of the 17 Goals.  Countries have the primary responsibility for
follow-up and review of the progress made in implementing the Goals, which will
require quality, accessible and timely data collection. Regional follow-up and review
will be based on national-level analyses and contribute to follow-up and review at the
global level.

7. What makes SDG unsupported by other Private Organizations? (3pts)

The SDG was unsupported by other Private Organization due to the trillion of dollars
that is required to achieve the plans and are expected to come from the private
sector. The point of view of the private organizations is for only a short-term
development which is exactly an opposite to the long-term sustainable goals.

8. Interpret and explain the diagram below. (12pts)

In every agenda, we really have the reasons on why we wanted to achieve


something. Part of this step is anticipating the possible barriers and hindrances that
may arise in passing the way to achieve the top. We also have the goals to set and
everyone should play their respective roles to have a synchronized operation, and
that is the step 1. Step 2 are identifying the targets and analyzing what will be the
possible effect of the plan to them. Also, we need to attest if our plans are doing well
and smooth so that we’ll know if the plan is productive. The third step is accepting
the challenges that will arise uncertainly and create mitigation to lessen the effects of
those problems. When we are challenged, we create strategies on how to overcome
it. Of course, our plans are for the good and will give mutual benefits to us and to the

people who’s affected and this is the fourth step. If we greatly overcome the four
steps, then we can easily do the fifth step which are to adapt the changes that was
being implemented and converge to a new beginning and maintain the good
outcome of the plan.

9. What does the 5 Core Dimensions of SDG entails? Use the diagram below.

These 17 SDG’s are generally represented by the 5 Core Dimensions which is an


affirmation of the world in commitment to achieve sustainable development by 2030.
To ensure sustained and inclusive economic growth, the 5 core dimensions became
their focus to find ways and solutions to solve the global problems. These
dimensions encourage us to think creatively and resourcefully so we can develop

right partnerships and take the right actions. It gives us a holistic approach to
understanding and tackling the problems by guiding us what to do to achieve
sustainability. These dimensions became the main problems that connects to the 17
SDG’s which are the specific topics needed to be focused. The way of compressing
the 17 goals into 5 dimensions helps us to address the root causes of every goal and
create long term solutions. These dimensions are interconnected which means that it
creates a big impact to the world. If one dimension is neglected, it can affect other
dimensions and will cause huge problem to the world. On the other hand, if the
dimensions has been given attention and action, this will be the start of achieving the
Agenda 2030 or known as the SDG’s.

10. Compare and contrast the Goals for the Good life and SDG. (5pts)

The Goodlife Goals and SDG’s contain almost the same content and that is to
achieve sustainability and good living. Its goals are for us to live peacefully and have
a stable life. While its contrast, the good life goals are primarily designed to be used
by policy-makers, business, civil society, creatives and educators who want to
communicate about the SDGs. Apparently, these good life goals became a way to
elaborate more the SDG’s which are the main topic of the United Nations to
achieved sustainability.

Items 11-15. Evaluate and interpret the diagram below. (5pts)

Let’s start with the Planet which is the bottom part of the diagram. Our planet is
obviously our home, the place where everyone lives and strive to survive and the
place where all that we need are available and can be find. Basically, we are nothing
without our planet.

The middle part are people, dignity and Justice. We, the people who are the settlers
and benefactors of the planet. We are the ones who have the chance to receive what
our planet gives but at the same time, we have the responsibility to take care and
save it from over usage and abusive treatment by our fellowmen. While dignity and
justice are the things that should be showed and applied as we grow and live. These
two needs to be focused in order for us to achieve peace and personal development
that will eventually take effect to the planet.

The top is Prosperity. If the people of the planet are responsive enough to what our
environment needs while achieving dignity and justice at the same time, then we can
have prosperity. We can achieve good life, good planet and productive nation.
