OFFICIAL
STUDENT
GUIDELINES

Any student found not adhering to the guidelines will be removed from class. Repeated incidences of non-
compliance will result in removal from the program.
PAGE 1

BEFORE THE ONLINE CLASS

Attendance is mandatory throughout the semester. In case a student

misses more than three classes, then they shall be removed from the
course as mentioned on page no. 7 in the student policy manual.
If the student joins after 15 minutes from the start of the class, the
student will be marked absent.
Students should keep their class resources ready.
Students must have a good internet connection to avoid
disconnection during the class.
Students should be dressed as they would be for class. Just ensure a
good presence for the virtual class experience.
Students should include a profile image and use their full names for
the classes. These names will be confirmed before entering the class.
Students must create a Zoom Account using their student.ufv.ca
email address and use only that account to attend FVI classes.
The classes will be restricted to authenticated users.
We strongly recommend that students join the class from a laptop or
a desktop and have the software pre-installed as mentioned in the
course syllabus.
Use a mobile phone ONLY in case of an emergency.
No student must join from two accounts. Only one account will be allowed in
one class. In case of any issues, contact Itservices.india@ufv.ca

In case the student does not meet these requirements, they will NOT be
admitted to the class under any circumstances.

DURING THE ONLINE CLASS

Attendance will be taken multiple times at random intervals during the class.
The student’s video needs to be switched on throughout the lecture. This is to
ensure class participation and also provide them with the ability to
communicate.
In case a student’s video is not on, they will be placed back in the waiting room
and removed from class after three warnings.
Students should try and ensure that there is a light source in front of them,
not behind.
NO virtual backgrounds to be used during the lecture.
Students should mute themselves when they are not actively contributing to
the class.
Surrounding noise can disrupt the class and active speaker view.
Students should speak in a conversational tone and follow the communication
standards set by the faculty members.
Students are advised to use the Active speaker view to ensure the faculty
member’s lecture is their main view.

Temporary absence
If a student is logged out of a class for some reason, they should join right
back in.
The class TA will let them in from the waiting room after confirming their
reason for leaving.

AFTER THE ONLINE CLASS

Faculty members will hold office hours post their class duration.
Students can participate according to the instructions laid out by the faculty
member.
The class recordings will not be shared.
