The Dos and Don'ts of Teaching Online

For class teachers


A. Class
1. Class teachers need to add Teaching Supervisors in Google Classroom.
2. Class teachers need to prepare Chapter End Tests and Mid-term Test in Google Classroom.
3. Be punctual.
4. Making a phone call for the personal case is seriously forbidden during teaching time.
5. Manage the family members not to disturb the class.
6. Record the attendance.
7. Request the students’ parents not to disturb the class.
8. Prepare them one week ahead: lesson plans, activities, video.
9. Announce the exam date and time at least three days ahead.
10. Never be late to deliver the important information and announcement to the students or their parents.
11. Submit the lesson plans every Friday and weekly assessments every Monday via email to:

12. Teachers and students need to be ready at least five minutes before the class starts.
13. To check students’ homework regularly and reply without fail.
14. Must hand over and send the lesson plan with other necessary audio, video, documents to co-host or
suitable teachers if the class teachers want to take leave. (Need to inform the supervisors)
15. Manage the time well – to upload/ to prepare the creativity.
16. Be careful these facts:
-not to public the wrong video or lessons
-not to public the wrong syllabus
-not to forget to check the link
-not to overload the course with too much technology
17. Stay professional. Keep the communication a student-teacher relationship.
18. Treat everyone with kindness and respect.
19. Encourage the students to take part in discussion, quiz, assignments, tests, watching videos.
20. Make the class exciting.
- Tongue twister

- Asking about their days
- Using color and graphic
- Using photos
- Making self-video
- Presentation
- Debating
- Weekly project
21. Give constructive feedback to the students.
-for written assignments, use the comment box to insert specific feedback comments
22. Teachers must not share or disclose a Zoom recording of a class session to anyone outside of the course.

For assistants teachers


1. Help the class teachers all requirements for teaching.
2. Must know and remind the important information: exam dates
3. Monitor the students and give help.
4. Record the students’ attendance.
5. Inform the class teachers if you notice something weird situation.
6. Contact and remind the students’ parents if the students are absent or late to join the class.
7. Must have all the students’ information: email address, phone number, strength and weakness.
B. Zoom
1. Make sure that you are in an adequately-lit room.
2. Choose a quiet place where you cannot be disturbed.
3. Wear professionally.
4. Get yourself ready to be able to use the necessary electronic devices.
5. If the background of your room does not look neat and tidy, use the virtual background.
6. Help prepare the students to be familiar with the Zoom and Google Classroom.
-Practice well with them before the real classroom starts.
-Be patient when encountering difficulties online.
-Be prepared with what will be done when the electricity goes off suddenly.
7. Keep a good rapport with students.
8. Keep the video record (give permission to the students to record).
9. Do not ignore and blame the students for not being able to use the apps well.

For students
1. Absence from class for more than five days is not allowed.
2. Certificates are not awarded if students are absent for more than five days and if they are failing the exam.
3. Submit homework regularly: essay, book review, exercises from work book and grammar book.
4. Students need to complete projects and assignments in time.
5. Students must meet all the requirements: attendance, sitting for the tests, passing all tests.
6. Students need to inform the teachers if they want to take leave.
7. Be careful not to disturb the class.
8. Using abusive words and inappropriate manner are prohibited.
9. Videos must be on during the class.

Student Guidelines for being in an online course


These guidelines are to ensure that every student in this course has a great experience. Please read through
these and try to abide by them throughout this course.

1) If you are not speaking in a Zoom class session, please make sure to keep your microphone muted so it
does not interfere with everyone's audio.
2) There should be limited outside distractions during our Zoom class sessions (i.e., there should not be other
people or animals around you, or anything too distracting on the walls – inappropriate posters, etc. - while
in class).
3) All background noise should be kept to a minimum during a Zoom session (i.e., TV sound, radios, dogs
barking, etc.). Try to be in a quiet environment.
4) No screen shots or pictures are to be taken during a Zoom class session without permission of all class
members.
5) Remember that written messages can read differently than if they were said orally. Keep this in mind while
writing responses and questions to other students and to your instructor.
6) Messages written in the Chat window during a session are saved automatically. Be mindful of what you
write and share.
7) Be respectful of others while they are talking. Stay off your phones, other devices, and social media to
respect your instructor and class members while in class.
8) When you have a question or something you'd like to say, you can use the raise hand function located in
the Participant panel.
9) Dress comfortably and professionally.
10) When in breakout rooms for partner or group activities, you are expected to be respectful of your fellow
classmates and to work together to complete the activity.
11) If necessary, your instructor may ask you to leave the Zoom class session until all distractions in your
environment have been addressed.
12) Ask the permission if you want to share the screen.
13) Students not to disclose any Zoom recording URL — or any copies of the recording the student might
create or obtain — to anyone outside the class.
Information and Rules for Students
RULE: The following information must be provided to students, regarding the Zoom recording function:

1) Instructors can use Zoom to record class sessions.


2) If an instructor uses Zoom to record a class session, Zoom provides audio and visual indicators to inform
you when the recording starts, stops, is in progress, and is paused/ not paused.
3) You may not yourself record a class session.
4) You may not disclose the link to/URL of a class session recording or copies of recordings to anyone, for
any reason. It is available to your class only.
