CHAPTER 10

1. Cite at least three (3) ways by which you, as future teacher, can contribute to a
positive school culture? Explain your answers. (30 pts.)
As a future teacher I can contribute to a positive school culture by;
a. Showing care to my students.
 By simply showing care to my students, about their feelings and emotions, especially to
those who struggle in the classroom or in their personal lives enables me to show love
and encouragement to them to boost their self esteem despite of those struggles that
they experience. Student don't listen to their teacher if they don't feel that he/ she
cares for them.
b. Showing Good attitude
 For me, showing good attitude can contribute to a positive school culture because as a
teacher I'm expected to show good attitude inside and outside the school, in that way
my colleagues and students can adopt my positive attitude and it can pass to the others.
c. Showing Respect
 As a teacher, being respectful to my colleagues and to my students enables me to
support or contribute to a positive school culture because, if you show respect to others
they will respect you as well ( Golden Rule ). In that way students can adopt this good
attitude and they can practice it inside and outside the school.

CHAPTER 11

1. Why is it important that school policies be established? (5pts.)

 It is important that school policies will be established because it will help schools to
realize their vision and mission. And it will help them to address their concerns and
problems . It is necessary because absence of policy can result to chaos.

2. If you are to create a school policy along the following areas: what would it be and
why? (30 pts)

a. Grading System
 The grading system should be objective not subjective, and both the students and his
parents should know on how his/ her grades are computed and to know if the teachers
computation is valid.

b. Students Discipline
 If students committed three consecutive absences in one subject he /she must be given
a failing grade. This policy is necessary to make students realize that in order for them to
pass one subject they must to their best and to attend their class regularly.

c. Collection of Fees
 In order for a school to Operate it needs funds. One policy about collection of fess that
must be implement is that PTA collection should be reasonable and it is based on what
is agreed during the PTA meeting. And the collection , and spending of this fund should
be transparent to insure that it will go to the proper utilization.

CHAPTER 12

1. In your own opinion, how do you describe a competent school head? Explain your
answer. (10pts.)
 For me, a competent school head is a leader who can lead and manage the school
towards improvement and progress. He / she is professionally competent and effective
in instructional leadership.

2. Compare and contrast the competencies under National Competency-Based


Standards for School Heads (NCBSSH) – DepEd Order 32,s.2010 and Southeast Asian
School Heads 2014 Edition. (5pts.)
 The competencies under the NCBSSH it has 7 domains with specific competency strands,
it's domains includes focused on instructional leadership, school management operation
and resource management, create a student centered learning climate, school ,
leadership, parent involvement and community partnership and lastly personal and
professional attributes, and interpersonal effectiveness. While, the south east Asian
competency framework has three Domains namely, stakeholders engagement ( SE)
instructional leadership ( IL ) and Personal Excellence ( PE ). The similarities of the two
competencies ,they both includes domains for instructional and administrative
leadership.

3. Is it important that a School Head be competent in both instructional and


administrative leadership? Why? (10pts.)
 It is important that School Head must he competent both instructional and
administrative leadership because, as an instructional leader he /she must be
competent in supervising instruction by observing teachers, coaching them and ensuring
that they have the needed resources for teaching. In administrative leadership, a school
head must be competent in improving the school physically and also he / she is concern
about the improvement of instruction.
