Lesson Plan in Special Program in the Arts

DANCE – GRADE 7

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:


a. Identify the importance of human body as a medium of communication for dance
b. performs a dance improvisation using one’s body
c. show appreciation on the importance of human body as a medium of communication for dance to
one’s physical health by giving ways on how to improve it.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Human Body as a Medium of communication for Dance


Year Level: Grade 7 – Dance
Materials: Powerpoint Presentation, task cards,Laptop, AVP materials
III. Procedure

Preliminary Activities

1. Organization
2. Prayer
3. Warm-up
4. Motivational Activity
The class will be divided into 2 groups. Each group must have 1 representative to "act out" a
phrase without speaking, while team members try to guess what the phrase is. The team members
must guess the phrase as quickly as possible before time runs out.

Lesson Proper

I. Activity I
Presentation of the Topic. Human Body as a Medium of communication for Dance.

II. Activity II
Dance Improvisation
The teacher will let the student find their open space. The teacher will play 3 songs and let
the students use their body to dance with the music.
III. Analysis
1. What did you feel while performing?
2. What are the different emotion you had express using your body while dancing?
3. How would you use your body to communicate effectively in dance?
4. Why is it important to know our body as a dancer?

III. Abstraction

1. What is the importance of body in dancing?


2. Do you think dancing can affect your physical health? How?
3. How will you maintain a good state of your body?

IV. Application

The teacher will group the students into two groups and the group will watch a video and
answer reflective questions given. The group will present their answers in the class.

V. Evaluation

If the statement is TRUE, draw Y. if it is FALSE draw an X. Write your answers on your
paper.
1. Communication through dance is not music driven but rather body and soul driven.
2. The consumption of alcohol or mind-altering drugs is often part of the recreational
dance experience.
3. Some males choose not to dance because they feel dancing makes the appear
vulnerable.
4. Dancers are obsessed on body image, stage fright, and other factors that impede their
self confidence.
5. Dance can help other adults physically and mentally.

V. Assignment

List down at least five (5) great ways to improve your physical health by using your own body in dance.
