Community Service Final Report:

By Ali Farhan B20F0471SE038

Final Report including conclusion of all activities.

Introduction:
In this final report I would like to say that I enjoyed this subject a lot. I would
like to say that we got to experience how we can help the community with
the help of amazing teachers like Dr. Arif and Dr. Taimur. I personally think I
learned quite a lot from this course and the most important thing that I
learned was we should learn to care about others and not just ourselves and
this course helped me realize just that. Below is a small summary of all the
activities we took part in as a team.
Activity 1:
The chosen Activity was to teach faculty and staff from Chemical
Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, and Electrical Engineering about
programming and robotics, as well as how to collaborate. Ed Scratch was
chosen for this because it was a simpler way to learn. We instructed a group
of teachers and administrators. I was also in charge of the activity's
photography and videography. I believe that this activity benefited the
community because we taught non-computing faculty and staff about
programming and its knowledge, which will help them in the future if they
want to start freelancing.
Activity 2:
The Activity chosen was to teach students of Chemical Engineering and
Biomedical Sciences about Programming and Robotics and how they can
work together. The method chosen for this was EdScratch as it was an easier
way to learn. We taught a group of students from chemical engineering
department. I believe that this activity was beneficial to the community
because in this activity we taught non-computing students about
programming and its knowledge so that it may help them later on in the
future if they wanted to start free lancing.
I was chosen for photography and videography hence I am not present in
the photos.

Activity 3:
The purpose of the activity was to teach students who were stranded at
home due to Covid 19. This activity was completed online, and I taught three
classes (3rd, 5th, and 6th). As a result, online mode was chosen to avoid
Covid 19. Because of the online study method, the activity did not go as well
as planned. Nonetheless, we were able to complete some tasks.
I believe that this activity was beneficial to the community because, during
these difficult times in Covid 19, students are stuck at home, wasting their
time. As a result, even though it was not much, this activity aided them in
resuming their learning, and I intend to continue teaching the students if
they ever require my assistance.

Activity 4:
During this activity, we fed stray animals. We put out food and water for
birds, which is necessary in these weather conditions because the weather is
very hot these days, and thus the survival of animals is hampered by the
weather. As a result, providing them with water and food would be
extremely beneficial.
This activity, I believe, benefits the community by ensuring that stray
animals and birds outside are safe from harsh living conditions. Even Islam
teaches us to treat animals with kindness, which benefits the community by
keeping the animals healthy and giving them a better chance of survival
during the hot summer months.

Activity 5:
We planned to donate all our old useful belongings to the poor and needy in
this week's activity. This activity was carried out by collecting all the old
clothes and items that were not required to be collected and then
distributing them to people who could benefit from them.
This activity, I believe, is beneficial to the community because it provides
necessities for daily living to those in need. These items, along with the
clothes that protected them from the elements, may have been extremely
beneficial to these people.
Activity 6:
In this activity, we decided to make cloth shopping bags to give to stores in
order to avoid using plastic bags. This activity was completed by collecting
old cloth and transforming it into shopping bags. However, I did not have
any free non-useful cloth, so I went out and bought some cloth-like
shopping bags. In stores, these shopping bags are already in use.
I believe that this activity benefited the community because its sole purpose
was to reduce the use of plastic bags and replace them with cloth bags
because plastic bags are not bio-degradable and thus contribute to bio
waste, resulting in a non-healthy environment.
Activity 7:
In this activity, we used the cloth bags we made/bought in my case and gave
them to local businesses. I believe this activity was beneficial to the
community because it helped reduce non-biodegradable plastic waste and
contributed to the creation of a healthy environment. I was also pleased to
see that these cloth bags were already being used in stores as part of a
government initiative to reduce plastic waste.

Activity 8:
During this activity, we collected old books, notes, and materials to give
away to students who could benefit from them. This activity was carried out
by collecting all the old books and notes that are no longer needed and
passing them on to students who will use them in their own studies.
I believe that this activity was beneficial to the community because it
allowed these students to obtain study materials for free, saving them
money and assisting them in their learning. I believe that this was a fantastic
activity because we were able to help students learn and educate
themselves without spending too much money on study materials.

Activity 9:
We participated in this activity by attending a seminar on natural disaster
preparedness, as well as first aid management and how to provide first aid
to others. This activity was completed by attending the fantastic seminar
given by Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Khan and Dr. Taimur. This aided us in learning and
comprehending the fundamentals of first aid and disaster management.
This activity, I believe, was very beneficial to the community because it
taught us what to do in disaster situations and how to properly assist the
injured. So, if something like this happened again, we would be prepared for
the worst-case scenario, potentially saving our own lives as well as the lives
of others. This activity was especially beneficial in learning how to protect
ourselves and our community.
Activity 10:
We participated in this activity by attending a practical seminar on natural
disaster protection, as well as first aid management and how to provide first
aid to others.
This activity was especially helpful as we practically learned how to use first
aid and hence will help us save lives in time of need. We learn how to act if
we see an unconscious person, the steps to follow are known as DR ABC
starting with Danger.
This activity, I believe, was very beneficial to the community because it
taught us what to do if someone is unconscious and requires assistance, as
well as how to properly assist the injured. So, if something like this happens
in the future, we will be prepared for the worst-case scenario, potentially
saving our own lives as well as the lives of others. This activity was
particularly beneficial in teaching us how to protect ourselves and our
community. Now I can proudly say that I will be able to do my best to save a
life, which I could not do in the past because I lacked the necessary skills.
But now I am confident that if the time comes, I will be able to take the
necessary steps to save someone.
Conclusion:
I believe that this course has helped me a lot in caring about the community
around me. It has taught me to be more considerate and provided me with
the skills to teach and save the environment. Also, this course has taught me
how to take care of the injured. It has taught me the basic first aid needs
required to help with CPR and transportation of the injured.
I personally really enjoyed this course as it helped me learn new things and
interact with new people.
I believe both Dr. Arif and Dr. Taimur helped us learn a lot in this course and
all of these skills I have learned will help me later on in life in protecting the
community and protecting the environment.
