INTRODUCTION
The Bachelor of Science in Animal Husbandry (BSAH) program of the College of
Agriculture, Isabela State University is a four-year course curriculum. The major course
in this program are concentrated on the basic theories of poultry and livestock
production and management. The theoretical aspects of the different courses are taken
substantially applied thru actual hands-on the prescribed and required laboratory
activities per subject.

On the other hand, the field practice is a six units subject as an academic
requirement for BSAH in-coming 4th year students who had satisfactory finished a total
of one hundred thirty nine (139) units in their prescribed/curriculum. From the total units
earned, forty one (41) units of total Animal Husbandry subjects are given utmost priority
in the assessment of those students who will go out for the job training.

The field practice students will undertake the training for __________ in four
livestock commodities (swine, poultry, small ruminants and large ruminants) within or
outside the province depending on the financial capability of the students. This will
provide the students and opportunity for a broader exposure on the actual farm
situations for them to acquire necessary management’s skills in animal production.

On-the-job Training is part of a college curriculum that aims to train and orient
students about the work and their future career. It is a type of skill development where a
worker learns how to do the work through hands-on experience. On the Job Training is
one method by which students are exposed with different work situation designed
to give students an opportunity to experience and a chance to apply the theories and
computation that they have learned from the school. It also helps the students to
acquire relevant knowledge and skills by performing in actual work setting.

OJT is very important not only to teach students regarding their chosen career
but also to show students the reality about working. The students will be exposed to the
actual work related to the course that they are taking. It also allow with no experience
to work and to learn at the same time. On-the-Job Training helps the trainee to learn
more about his chosen field and practice what he has learned from the school. It helps
in the building up of the trainee’s competence.

The specific objectives of the field practice are as a follows:

1. To develop the student's ability to integrate the knowledge learned from the
Classroom into actual farm situations.

2. To expose the students to the dynamics or agricultural productions and

managements;

3. To identify problem's being encountered in each farm station;

4. Find solutions to the problem thru the conduct of action research.

ACTIVITIES
We all know it is not easy for every one of us our situation since we have COVID-
19 In our life, especially to us as a student. In the first place when I enroll my OJT class
I think about how to do this and I know it is very hard because On the Job training is the
time that you can practice and perform what you have learned in your theory. And this is
the stepping stone where you can practice how to become effective employee when you
work after your graduation.

animals.

In our third week in our OJT our professor give again another task 3.1 to 3.5.
This task is all about the swine and in this task we will not require to go outside because
for the safety of everyone and also this task is we need to use information sheet in order
to answer and discuss what need in the task is. The 3.1 is all about the handle breeder,
I research the genetically superior breeders and replacement stocks. Then I execute
proper handling and feeding of boar, sows and gilts. I also provide care and monitor the
health of the breeders. My 3.2 is all about handle farrowing sows and sucklings from the
farrowing unit of the farm I should be able to demonstrate proper preparation of animals

SUMMARY
Our OJT is a virtual which we can research and video our self to perform the
different task that we gave to us. We gave weekly task that we need to pass on time
thru Gmail and also we pass in a hard copy. In week one we do the resume, letter of
intent and also the parent consent. In week two this task is all about the poultry.
Chicken and the eggs in this task I video all the things that I’ve done and also I wear a
PPE for the protection of everyone in the pandemic that we face today. I perform this
task in my grandfather’s poultry. In week three is all about the swine the instruction of
our proof we do not go in the other farm to do task but we need to research and answer
the different question thru information sheet. I analyze and read all the different articles
study in swine this task I’ve learned thru the proper Handling in the swine the different
breeding and caring of piglets from birth to weaning. In week four is all about ruminant I
also research the different forage that we gave in our animals I gave their name
scientific name and their picture, also in this task I provide the different breeding of
ruminants. How to Raise, dairy and determined meat type animals. In this task I’ve
learned the different forage that we need to give in our ruminant animals for them to
become healthy I also learned the milk offered a day.

All of this is very helpful to me even I also perform my on the job training thru
online there are many things that I’ve learned I know it is very helpful if I perform all of
this in actual but I understand our situation the most important from this is there are
many things that I’ve learned and understands that I will apply when I finish my study
and having my own farm.

CONCLUSION

Nothing beats experience as the perfect learning tool. This on-the- Job Training
served as my stepping stone to pursue my dream to be an Animal husband man/ farm
owner someday. This training gave me an inspiration to be more serious and focused in
studying. I was encouraged to do more efforts in my studies. Since I was given some
ideas about the work of a different ruminant animals in the company even in the virtual
only, I am inspired to be farm owner someday. Despite the short period of my training,
and thru research and audio visual presentation it was still a very meaningful one. The
training enriched my confidence created a foundation of being a good employee or
having a farm someday. It caused a very huge effect to me as a Bachelor of  Science in
Animal husbandry major in ruminant Student. I was really renewed.

This training made me realize that it is really good to know what you’re doing,
and to love it. As a student, what I can do for now is to learn whatever I can in school,
be inspired, love the path I am taking, and do my best in everything I do, with a positive
outlook in mind. I realized that I should be more focused in school and do everything
heartily and with all that I can. It is also very warm to the heart to know that you have
accomplished something and even warmer when there are people who are so proud of
what you have done and I felt this feeling during my On- the-Job Training. It inspired me
to be more determined and competitive in everything that I do in my daily life as a
student today and as a professional someday.

My On-the-Job Training is very helpful and will be very helpful to me as I

continue to take my journey as a fourth year student in the field of Animal Husbandry. It
really gave me a taste of the real world a glimpse of what lies ahead after I graduate
even we are facing know COVID-19.
