THE ESSENTIALS OF WEARING PROPER SCHOOL UNIFORM


WHEREAS, the Dakok Tamulon Integrated School, as a matter of school policy observe the wearing of school uniform
for proper identification and security purposes, to protect the students in case of untoward incidents and during
emergencies situations;

WHEREAS, according to a study published in the internet wearing of school uniform is a mitigating measure to avoid social
conflict lessen social conflicts within the school. This is so as not all students can keep up with the latest trends in fashion. So, if you
don’t belong in the group when it comes to fashion, you often become the subject of ridicule and mockery
obviously because other students see you as an outcast who doesn’t fit in. If you are in this situation, it
can badly affect your self-esteem and can give rise to many insecurities. But with school uniform, incidents like this can be
prevented 

WHEREAS, however, considering that majority of the Dakok Tamulon Integrated School learners belong to low income-
earning families, most of them have only one or two sets of school uniforms. Wearing said uniforms on a daily basis from
Monday to Friday is a burden they have to bear, not to mention the difficulty of drying before wearing it;

WHEREAS, believing that such difficulty would have an impact on the learner’s performance in school, the Supreme
Student Government (SSG), hereby propose for the
observance of a “One-day Wash Day” for the students, to give them adequate
opportunity to wash and dry their uniforms, and the appropriate time to do that would be every Wednesday of the week

WHEREAS, in order not to defeat the above-mentioned purposes of wearing school uniform despite the observance of the
one-day Wash Day every Wednesday of the week, the Supreme Student Government (SSG) hereby enjoins all the DTIS
learners to observe proper school attire ;
 
WHEREAS, DepEd. Order No. 46, S. 2008–PROPER SCHOOL ATTIRE, provides that:

“While the general policy is that the wearing of a school uniform shall not be required in public schools (as embodied in
DepEd Order No. 45 s. 2008), it is necessary to provide guidance on what constitutes
“PROPER SCHOOL ATTIRE.” The following principles should serve as a guide:

1.A student’s basic right to go to school, study and learn is of paramount importance and


should be respected and promoted at all times.
2. A student should wear proper school attire these comprises the following:
Kinder to Grade Three pupils (boys) – Short pants , Polo shirts, school shoes, black socks and School ID
Grade four up (boys) should wear long pants and polo shirts, school shoes, black socks, and School ID
Girls should wear skirt and blouse as prescribed by the school, school shoes, black knee socks, and School ID. Ripped
jeans or tattered jeans, miniskirts, sleeveless blouses, spaghetti blouses are prohibited
3. Boys should maintain proper haircut, which is known as student’s haircut and no color of hair.
4. Body tattoo are strictly prohibited for both boys and girls. Nail color are also not allowed.
5.Wearing of earrings for the boys is prohibited. Wearing on single earring or multiple earrings for the girls are also not
allowed.
6. Wearing of too much make up is not allowed.
