What did you do yesterday?
In this lesson, you will demonstrate communicative competence through
his/ her understanding on how to use past tense and past perfect tense
correctly in varied contexts. Your lesson about this in Grade 7 would help
you understand more about grammar.
Based on the example of a past tense verb
Ask: What is past tense and past perfect tense?
Present a material of tenses. Mention the tenses and the different forms
of verb the regular and irregular verbs. How does it helps the sentence to
make a past tense an past perfect tense.how will you make it into a past
perfect tense in a sentence.
 Past Tense is a verb tense used for a past activity or a past state
of being. Simple past tense is formed using the verb + ed and in
addition, there are many verbs with irregular past forms.
Example,He rose like nothing happened.
 Past Perfect Tense is used to show that something happened
before another action in the past. It can also be used to show
that something happened before a specific time in the past. It is
formed with the past form of “to have’’ (had) plus the past
participle of the verb (either regular or irregular).
Example:I had traveled to Japan before the cherry blossom bloomed
This time, we will read a short conversation between Allen and Alex.
 Write five sentence using past tense and five sentence using past
perfect tense

Past Tense is a verb tense used for a past activity or a past state of being. Simple
past tense is formed using the verb + ed and in addition, there are many verbs with
irregular past forms.
Examples: He rose like nothing happened.
Last night, Dane and Emily danced in a competition.

In the first example the underlined word is rose. It is in its simple past of the
word rise. Remember, rise is an irregular verb which means they (verbs) change
its spelling when transposed to its past form. While in the second example the
underlined word is danced. Danced is a simple past tense of the word dance.

Past Perfect Tense is used to show that something happened before another
action in the past. It can also be used to show that something happened before a
specific time in the past. It is formed with the past form of “to have’’ (had) plus the
past participle of the verb (either regular or irregular).
