Writing the Summary, Conclusion and Recommendation

Application:

Exercise 1. Before making conclusions, how will you know that you are on the right track?
Write the guidelines that you will follow.

As a researcher, we need to think that conclusion is fundamentally significant part of

a study. As mentioned in the module, conclusions must provide answers to the research
objectives where it includes facts and discoveries included in the study.

The followings are the guidelines that we need to pursue before making conclusions;

 Gather information. In gathering information, it includes two essential parts:

 Related Literatures. In this part, we need to collect different related
literatures of our study. It must be paraphrased and comprehensible.
 Through survey/interview. In this part, we need to collect data from
our respondents. It should be analyzed and interpreted thoroughly.
 Relate your related literatures with the result of your survey/interview. This is the
part where researchers will discuss the findings.
 Form a conclusion. In forming a conclusion, we need to consider our readers where
they can clearly notice the answers of our research objectives.
 Review your work. To ensure a good quality, manage to review your work.

Exercise 2. What type of recommendation can be easily understood and acceptable? Explain
and show examples.

Based on what I have learned, the type of recommendation that can be easily
understood and acceptable is the recommendation that is made in accordance to SMART
Goals by George T. Doran (1981), in which recommendations are specific, measurable,
achievable, result-oriented, and time-bounded.

Specific. When we say specific it talks about a particular action to do.

Example: From the survey conducted, several recommendations were gathered. The methods
and strategies suggested by the students to school to further improve the Modular Distance
Learning are reduction of activities from modules, more examples of each subject, home
visitation once a week, limited face-to-face class or Blended Learning, provision of coloured
printed modules, immediate information given by teachers on what to answer in the modules,
online consultation with students, responsiveness of teachers through the use of social media
platform, and leniency of teachers in the submission of students’ outputs (Dangle &
Sumaoang, 2020).

Measurable. A recommendation must be quantifiable to track advancement.

Example: Accordingly, the teachers said that donations, solicitations, and assistance of PTA
and othe stakeholders were some of the ways to augment the financial needs of the school;
the government must make the modules as textbooks, and the DepEd must allocate additional
funds for modules (Dangle & Sumaoang, 2020).

Achievable. Make sure to formulate a recommendation that is within your scope and possible
to accomplish.

Example: The appropriate interventions to be provided for struggling learners according to

teachers are consistent consultation through text, call, and through other social media
platforms, organization of Community Learning Facilitators (CLF), home visitation for
direct tutorials, simplification of modules, and immediate note/feedback made by teachers
which are written in vernacular language (Dangle & Sumaoang, 2020).

Result-oriented. It is anticipated that a recommendation has the capability to give assistance

to different participants of the study.

Example:

 This research proved that the modular teaching is more effective approach in order
to teach university students of Master in Educational Planning and Management.
This method can be applied widely to other fields and subjects as well as other level
of education because this approach has the ability to fulfill the diversified needs of
learning of students of all level (Sadiq and Zamir, 2014).
 The results of service quality assessment may be used as inputs in planning and
defining a strategy related to the career competencies of the students. Students may
be given opportunities to express their level of satisfaction in their academic
experience which will pave way for the progress of their career competencies. Future
researches may be conducted on the student satisfaction and career competencies
(Conte, 2016).

Time-Bound. A recommendation should be attainable within the specific time you allocate
for a certain situation/problem to be solved.

Example: District administrators must be aware of the need for increased time to collaborate
with the other STEM teachers. Building time into the school year for teachers to plan lessons
and prepare lessons with colleagues would facilitate STEM integration (Margot & Kettler,
2019).
Exercise 3. Create a hypothetical study stating the research problems and the hypothetical
findings.

H0: There is no significant relationship between instructional method and students’ academic
performance.

For instance, the calculated p-value in this scenario is less than to the level of
significance it is the time to reject the hypothesis.

H1: There is a significant relationship between instructional method and students’ academic
performance.

Exercise 4. Critique the following conclusions taken from hypothetical master’s thesis:

In accordance with the evaluators’ validations, the apparent weaknesses of the

developed CAI which needs improvement are three items. It is not easy to read, which
suggests that the text font size is small and texty. It lacks animation, and the other, choice of
color, graphics, and sound is not appropriate. These may cause problems in CAI in the area of
maintaining and arousing interest.

The conclusion mentioned above is brief and direct to the point. However, I observed
that there’s inadequate information in which they did not impose deeper analysis for future
developments.

Exercise 5. State your recommendations for the above-cited conclusions.

Given that the weaknesses of the new developed CAI includes it’s difficult to read, lacks of
animation,

Given that there were losses in the new developed CAI, it is recommended to redesign
its layout by resizing the text, applying animations, and build up a nice choice of colors to
achieve exceptional output. To prevent excessive loss, create a new form of training and
raised the salary of the staff. Additionally, the researcher suggested to purchase a technology
with advanced features in order to maintain a good quality of services. Higher officials
should have regular inspection in order to evaluate the implementations of the latest
innovation. Newbies should undergo multiple drills before deployment in order to ensure a
wholesome services for the future.
