UUM 523E Advanced Flight Dynamics Assignment 3 (Trim Conditions)
UUM 523E Advanced Flight Dynamics Assignment 3 (Trim Conditions)
(Trim Conditions)
26 December 2020
1.a.
The aircraft was tried to be trimmed in the values given in the table above each conditions.
The trim result made under these conditions is given in the two tables for conditions. The first
table shows the values that the aircraft's control commands should have. The second table
shows trim the values of the aircraft.

Comment:
When the results are examined, it is seen that the aircraft can be trimmed and perform straight
flight under these conditions. When the trim results are taken and given to the nonlinear
Simulink model as the starting condition, it is seen that the aircraft continues at that trim
point. This proves that this trim point is correct for the aircraft.
1.b.
The trim code prepared for the special case has been compiled and its comparison with the
first trim condition is given in the tables below. In addition, the results obtained by feeding
the results obtained with this trim code to the Simulink model are plotted on the graphics.

Comment:
Two different trim codes have been written to find the same trim point. Both codes were
expected to find almost the same result. When the results were examined, it was seen that
both codes obtained almost the same result. The thing here is that the code written for the
special case can reach the same result faster. In this way, faster results can be obtained when
many different trim points are wanted to be examined.

Comments
Trim values were calculated with the trim code prepared for the steady-state turn flight
condition. When the behavior of the aircraft was observed by feeding the Simulink model
with these trim values, it was observed that the behavior of the aircraft was correct. Here, it is
seen that there is a small collapse while holding the altitude. This is due to the decrease in the
lift of the aircraft due to the bank. This is also expected behavior.
