Simple Present Countinuous Tense

FUNGSI
 Untuk menyatakan suatu peristiwa yang sedang berlangsung pada waktu
sekarang
The monkey is climbing the tree.
I am waiting for you now.
Rina is telling about us in the room.
 Kebiasaan sementara
They are studying at Unsri now
Pianus is taking English course this year

Beberapa kata kerja tidak dapat dipakai dalam bentuk contiuous, antara lain:
 Kata kerja yang berhubungan dengan panca indera

 Kata kerja yang berhubungan dengan perasaan atau emosi, yaitu:
adore appreciate care desire
fear hate like love
mind want wish
 Kata kerja berkaitan dengan aktifitas mental, yaitu:

SIMPLE PAST CONTIUOUS TENSE

Fungsi :
 Untuk melukiskan suatu peristiwa yang sedang terjadi pada waktu lampau
I were cooking fried rice.

 Untuk melukiskan suatu peristiwa yang sedang berlangsung pada waktu lampau dimana
kejadian lain terjadi dan biasanya disertai anak kalimat yang diawali dengan
When/While/as.
When Najwa was eating, Medina came.

FUTURE CONTIUOUS TENSE

Fungsi:
Untuk menyatakan suatu peristiwa yang sedang berlangsung ketika peristiwa lain terjadi di
waktu yang akan datang da masih berlangsung sesudahnya.
When you come to my house at seven o’clock tonight, I will be studying.
Formula:
Subject + shall/will + be + V-ing
Keterangan waktu:
When + clause (present), at this time tomorrow, at two o’clock tomorrow, at three o’clock
tomorrow,….

Example:
I shall be eating rice when you come to my house tonight.
Saffa will be washing plate when Andi give her a flower tomorrow night.

SIMPLE PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE

Fungsi :
 Untuk menyatakan suatu perbuatan yang mulai dilakukan pada waktu lampau sampai
sekarang masih berlangsung dan mungkin masih akan dilanjutkan.
I have been married for seven years.
 Untuk kata kerja “ Live” Present Prefect Continuous mempunyai arti sama dengan
Present Perfect.
I have been living in Bandung for two years= I have lived in Bandung for two years. (I still
live in Bandung now).
