TASK 1
Observe the pictures and answer the questions!

1. What pictures are they? They are pictures that usually appear in newspapers that provide news
according to the topic.
2. Where can you usually find them? We can find it I the newspaper.
3. Can they tell you something? Yes, they can spread news according to topics, such as economics,
sports, disasters.
4. They are usually followed by sentences. Do you know what they are called? I think it’s called a
caption.

Criteria for good captions  The caption should match the images.
 The caption should add new information
 The caption should provide context for the picture
 The caption should brief or shorter
 The caption should draw attention
 Use present tense to creates a sense of immediacy and
impact
 Always identify the main people in the photograph
