Product packaging is one of the main factors that help a brand increase its
recognition. In recent years, we have seen a lot of packaging changes to suit for the
international market. One of the brands with impressive packaging that I appreciate
is Patagonia.
Patagonia's packaging has used a very impressive design that we call
“Shushi roll” with the main material made from cartoon cover. Patagonia has used
design with simple style and color but very elegant and functional. The corrugate is
left in its natural state with minimal printing, using formal stickers to designate
style, color and size. The front of the package opens easily to display the baselayer
inside, allowing the buyer to touch the material or remove and replace it. Even
after a client has replaced the baselayer, this allows for a clean on-shelf
appearance.
One thing I really like about Patagonia's packaging is that it's made from
cartoon - a recyclable material. In the situation of global warming, Patagonia's use
of recyclable materials greatly contributes to environmental protection. This can
attract more customers, especially those who love to protect the environment.
However, besides the positive aspects, Patagonia's packaging still has a
small shortcoming that I think the company should improve to be able to bring
more profit that is the color of the product. Although it uses an elegant color
gamut, it is only suitable for certain groups of audiences. If Patagonia adds more
colors so the packaging doesn't become boring easily and can improve sales.
In conclusion, Patagonia's packaging is one of most packaging with amazing
and innovative designs. I believe that if the company continues to absorb
customers' opinions, their packaging will be more perfect and become one of the
most recognizable packages.
