DAYTIME OBJECTS IN THE SKY

Daytime is the time of day when there is daylight. At daytime, there are a number a natural objects that can seen in the sky.

SUN The sun is the star around which our planet, Earth, revolves. Stars are huge, bright as
of hot, explosive gases. They give off their own light and energy. As a star, the sun is the
main source of light and energy on Earth. Without the sun, there would be no life on our
planet.

CLOUDS
Clouds are collection of tiny water droplets or ice crystals in
the air. They are an important part of the Earth's weather.
You can tell how the weather will be like by the type of clouds that are present in the sky.

RAINBOWS
You may sometimes see a rainbow in the sky. A
rainbow is formed when sunlight strikes rain drops and the light is split into different
colors. It looks like an arc of different colors. It appears when it is raining in one part
of the sky and sunny in another part. A rainbow always appers opposite the sun.
The colors of the rainbow are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
You can easily remember this through the acronym ROYGBIV.

NIGHT TIME OBJECTS IN THE SKY

Night time is the time of the day when no light from the sun can be seen. However, even when it is dark, you will still be able
to see some natural objects in the sky.

MOON
The moon is the Earth's only natural satellite. it is the brightest object that can be seen in
the night sky. However, it does not have its own light. Moonlight is actually sunlight that is
reflected by the moon.

STARS
On clear, cloudless nights, you may be able to see plenty of stars in the
sky. These are the ones that are far away from Earth. During the day,
their light cannot be seen because of the bright light of the sun.
Stars come in different sizes, color, and age. The Earth's star, the sun, is
a medium-sized yellow star that is about 4.6 million years.

CLOUDS
Even at night, you can still see clouds, especially when the moon is out. However,
because it is dark, it is hard to tell the colors of the clouds.

PLANETS
Did you know that you may be able to see certain planets in the sky without
using a telescope? In particular, you may be able to see Venus, which is
the brightest object in the night sky after the moon. Although it is not a star,
Venus is called both the morning star and the evening star because of its
brightness.
You may also be able to see Jupiter, the third brightest object in the night
sky. If the skies are clear and you know where to look, you may also be
able to see the other planets- namely, Mercury, Mars, and Saturn-with your
naked eye.
