• To minimize/reduce pain on knee by wearing
the device

• To improve mobility of people who have

 INNOVATIVE ELEMENT
• Use and apply innovative material such as Magneto rheological
fluid (MR Fluid) or air muscle or customize system:
1. For the support of leg during standing. (act as a support to
reduce the pain on the knee)

2. On the gear clutch to assist in leg movement (to achieve

movement compliance).

• Use sensors to trigger movement and feedback to control system.

Project Cost: $12k
Duration: 24 months

Problem: As the aging population increases, Osteoarthritis is most commonly

due to aging and affects a lot of people by the age of 80. A lot of senior
citizens will complain of knee pain and face difficulties in mobility.

Solution: To design and implement a customize leg brace to reduce the knee
pain and improve mobility of people

Key Challenge: To achieve movement compliance on leg brace

Target group: Student and staff of ITE

Innovation: Customize system for leg brace at low cost
