Rc=9.4 r= 18cm N=3200RPM

Bore and stroke relation S=1.06B

Req:

a) Clearance volume of one cylinder.[cm3, L]

b) Bore and Stroke in cm.

c) Average piston speed in m/s.

Solution:
A. For one cylinder

Vd= 2.4L/4 = 0.6Liter= 600cm3

rc= (Vd + Vc)/Vc = , 9.4=(600cm3 + Vc)/Vc

9.4Vc= 600cm3 + Vc

9.4vc –vc=600cm3

8.4vc= 600cm3 Vc= 600cm3/8.4 = 71.43 cm3

a. Clearance volume of one cylinder

Vc= 600cm3/8.4 = 71.43 cm3

b) Bore and Stroke in cm

Vd= = 600cm3= B=8.97cm

S=1.06B S=1.06*8.97 =9.5cm

c. Average piston speed in m/s , 9.5cm=0.095m

Up=2SN= (2 stroke/rev)(0.095 m/stroke)(3200/60 rev/sec) =Up= 10.13m/s

A. Engine displacement= Ed= Vd*Nc=

Ed=(Π/4)*B2*S*Nc=(Π/4)*(10.9cm)2*12.6cm*4cyl= 4703cm3= 4.703 Liter

Ed=4703cm3 = 0.004703m3=4.703L

Up= 2SN = (2stroke/rev)(0.126m/stroke) (2000rev/60s) =8.4m/sec

Ap==(Π/4)(B2)(Nc)= (Π/4)(0.109m)2(4cyl)=0.0373m2

b. Brake mean effective pressure=

Wb= (bmep)(Ap)(Up/2)- for two stroke engine

Bmep=2Wb/ApUp= 2(88kw)/0.0373m2*8.4m/s= 561 Kpa

C. Torque.[Nm]
