➢ If you say that they show relationships, then you are correct!
An analogy shows a comparison between things with similar features often used to
explain a principle, concept, or idea. However, two things being compared may also
be dissimilar (not the same), which still helps you understand something about the
relationship.
Analogy is used to connect unfamiliar words or new ideas with common and
familiar objects. Your knowledge of using Analogy can improve your vocabulary and
develop your comprehension.
Let's learn more about Analogy. There are different types of Analogy.
Analogy is also used when you compare one situation or person to another.
For example, when you say,
1. "Life is like a box of chocolates." This statement compares the
uncertainty and variety of life experiences with a box of chocolates.
2. "Let her keep shining like the sun." She is not the sun. She does not
shine, but it shows imagery and infers that she is bright.
A. Choose the correct word that would complete the Analogy of the given
pair of words. Encircle the letter of your answer:
A.) Find related objects, places, persons around your home and provide
one example of each Analogy we have discussed. Write the
relationship opposite to it.
Example: plates : kitchen :: bed : bedroom (location)
B.) Create and write analogies to describe every member of your family
and a few friends. (Think about the unique aspects of each person
while making your analogies).
