Recap of the previous lesson about the difference of a fact and an opinion.
- Present series of statements for them to identify whether they are stating
a fact or an opinion.

- Present series of pictures and let the pupils guess the correct answer.

examples)
1. Terms in the format A : B, which could be read as A related to B.
Example: (A):(B)
KITCHEN: HOUSE- kitchen and house are related since kitchen is part
of the house.
2. It always contain two pairs of words.
3. It can be abbreviated.

Example: girl is to boy as up is to down
girl : boy :: up : down
Types of Analogy
Synonyms – pairs that show a similar relationship or have the same meaning.
Cause and Effect – one word is the source of some action and the other word is the result
Part of whole- pairs that show the first word as part of the second word
Person to situation – one term is the workplace of the other. Example: saleslady : mall

Activity 1
Let the pupils pick the printed words inside the box and classify them
according to their type.
Paste the words under the correct type of analogy.

- What is analogy?
- What are the basic types of analogy?
B. Application
1. Divide the class into two groups.
Let each group classify the printed words according to their relationship.
Let them supply the missing words to complete the analogy and paste them on
the manila paper.
