1. Fourbar mechanism (11-10)
The figure below shows a fourbar linkage and its dimensions in
meters. The steel crank and rocker have uniform cross sections 50
mm wide by 25 mm thick. The aluminum coupler is 25 mm thick.
In the instantaneous position shown, the crank O2A has ω = 15
rad/s and α = -10 rad/s2.There is a horizontal force at P of F=200N.
Find all pin forces and the torque needed to drive the crank at this
instant.

2. Fourbar mechanism (11-11)
The figure below shows a fourbar linkage and its dimensions in
meters. The steel crank, coupler, and rocker have uniform cross
sections of 50 mm wide by 25 mm thick. In the instantaneous
position shown, the crank O2A has ω= 15 rad/s and α = -10 rad/s2.
There is a vertical force at P of F=500 N. Find all pin forces and
the torque needed to drive the crank at this instant.

3. Fourbar mechanism
The figure below shows a fourbar linkage and its dimensions in
meters. The steel crank, coupler, and rocker have uniform cross
sections of 50 mm diameter. In the instantaneous position shown,
the crank O2A has ω= -10 rad/s and α = 10 rad/s2. There is a
horizontal force at P of F=300 N. Find all pin forces and the torque
needed to drive the crank at this instant.

4. Force analysis using energy method
For the double slider mechanism shown in the following figure, the
crank rotates at a uniform speed of 300 rpm CCW. At the position
shown;
a) Find the position of sliders B and C with respect to O.
b) Find the velocity and acceleration of sliders B and C.
c) Using Energy Method find the required torque for the crank OA,
if two resistant forces act at slider B and C (P= Q =1kN) as shown
on the figure.

OA = 30 cm, AB = AC = 100 cm. Take mB= mC= 10kg. Neglect

the mass of other links.

5. Quick return mechanism
For the quick-return mechanism shown below, the rod DC rotates
with a constant angular velocity of 1 rad/s CCW.
a) For the position shown find the angular velocity of member AB
and the velocity of sliding of block C within the member AB.
b) If a force P = 1 kN is applied vertically at B, determine the
torque M that must be applied to member DC.
c) Draw the FBD of member DC and find the force transmitted
through the slider joint at C.
Neglect the masses of all members. Dimensions are in cm.

6. Double slide mechanism
The figure shows a double slide. Link 2 moving with a constant
velocity at 2m/s in positive x direction. Link 3 is a thin rod of mass
m3 =5 kg and length AB = 500mm. The masses of links 2 and 4 are
negligible. Determine the force F12 acting on link 2 and the joint
forces that occur when the mechanism is in the given state of
motion and when x = 200mm. Assume the mechanism is operating
on a horizontal plane so that we can neglect the gravitational
acceleration. Also neglect friction.

7. Compressor mechanism
The compressor mechanism shown in the following figure is
driven clockwise by a DC electric motor at a constant rate of 800
rpm. In the position shown, the pressure is 500 kPa;
a) Find the position of the piston.
b) Find the velocity and acceleration of the piston.
c) Using Energy Method, determine the power and torque required
from the motor to operate the compressor.
The piston has a mass mp = 0.45 kg. Neglect the mass of other
links. All dimensions are in cm.
