Business from the Previous Meeting

Ms. Evangeline S. Magtoto read the minutes of the previous meeting (Jan. 7, 2022). Before the
approval of the minutes, Ms. Nerissa G. Domingo asked the body for their comments or reactions. Ms. Casulla
commented that she did not suggest the topic “Focus and Acceptance on the Economic Situation of the
Students.” Ms. Magtoto mentioned that Mr. Granado was the one who raised that topic. However, Ms.
Casulla reiterated that it was not her. Ms. Domingo asked the body who suggested that. Since nobody
answered and nobody remembered, Ms. Magtoto simply put “Ms. Somebody” in replacement of “Ms.
Casulla”. Ms. Domingo said it must be corrected later. In the minutes of the meeting, “Ms. Somebody” must
not be used. The minutes of the meeting was approved by the body.

New Business

1. Reading and Approval of the Minutes of January 7, 2022 Meeting (Ms. Evangeline S. Magtoto)

 Ms. Evangeline S. Magtoto, the Minutes Taker of the January 7, 2022 meeting, read the
minutes. Everyone expressed their congratulatory messages for Ms. Magtoto’s comprehensive and
precise minutes.

2. World Read Aloud Day

 Ms. Raquel S. Columna was tasked to discuss about the WRAD 2022. She read the mechanics
based on the memorandum released by the Division Office.

MECHANICS
I. The celebration is on February 2, 2022 only. The participation of students, parents, and teachers
will be voluntary.
II. The participants may have their Reading Aloud Sessions on or before the celebration. However,
please ensure that the pre-recording Reading Aloud sessions will be uploaded only on February 2,
2022.
III. Reading aloud is when one person leads the other/s in reading. You don’t need a large audience
to read aloud. Keep in mind that it’s about quality rather than quantity that matters.

Do’s
1. Choose the right book. Make sure the book is appropriate for your students/kids.
2. Know your audience: whether you are telling a story to a group of children, adults, or both, make sure
the language and message are easy to understand and accessible to everyone.
3. Take your time. It’s important to convey the richness of each page and make sure your students/kids
understand all the words, concepts, and emotions.
4. Ask simple questions that spark responses and foster empathy. Start with “How” and “Why”
questions.
5. After reading the story, discuss what the story’s values are and what they learn from the book.

Don’ts
1. Do not read all at once or in chorus.
2. Reading aloud is not an “I read first; you repeat” activity.

Ms. Columna reminded that videos and documents must be shared on Facebook using the hashtags
#WRAD2022 and #worldreadaloudday2022. By who, for whom, how many, where, and other essential
information must be included in the post. She also mentioned that in 2020, Sauyo High School won in WRAD.

Ms. Columna continued by reminding everyone that after the activity, the submitted Facebook links,
videos, and documentations to the link provided in the memorandum for compilations. The submission
period is from February 2-9, 2022. There will be 10 raffle winners of 50 books from Pinoy Reading Buddies
and QC Public Library for those who registered and sent/submitted their video entries.

Ms. Columna and Ms. Marianne C. Rivera worked hand in hand to come up with a plan. Here are the
suggested activities:

Who: Participants: Grade 7 and 8 students (All Grade Levels)

Story tellers: Ms. Rivera and Grade 8 storyteller winner or Ms. Justo
Facilitator: Ms. Columna
When: Feb. 2, 2022
Where: Google Meet
If possible, the session will be livestreamed in SHS FB Page. If not, recorded video will be uploaded to the
page with the division’s official hashtag plus caption with required activity information.

With regards to the story tellers, Ms. Domingo said English teachers can do it. “We should choose among
our colleagues.”, Ma’am Domingo said in the chat box. Ms. Rivera was suggested. Ms. Dannah R. Cordial
asked what is needed to be done by the storyteller. The body is also concerned about the conflict of
schedule since there will be a parallel session of the VINSET 2022. To fix the schedule, there will only be a
limited number of participants. Ms. Domingo also said that we could not ask the students to do the story
telling because they will be the ones to answer the questions from the story tellers. It should not be
sounding scripted. A teacher must be a storyteller, she reiterated. Ms. Domingo initially suggested Ms.
Rivera and Ms. Maybelle D. Baluran.

Ms. Maria Olga T. Rufo gave her suggestions. She said there could be storytellers from each grade level.
She asked if it is possible if they will be part of the reading text. Teachers are the ones to ask the questions. It
will be up to the storytellers if they want to give the story in advance; however, it may really sound scripted
unlike if it will be given on the spot. Ms. Domingo agreed that the story must be given during the session.
She also said that we need to decide what story will be used. Ms. Jelyn C. Vigonte asked “Is it like a readers
theater?” Meanwhile, Mr. Dominador O. Martinez asked/suggested, “Can we have two or more teachers
read the story? Take into accounts the number of characters in the chosen text.” Ms. Columna
acknowledged their suggestions.

Ms. Rufo continued by suggesting that since students are fond of Tiktok, we can convert reading activity
into a Tiktok. She then asked Ms. Columna if it is allowed. Ms. Domingo said the criteria said “traditional”.
But she also mentioned, “As long as it does not deviate from the theme.” Ms. Rufo agreed and said that we
still need to stick with the criteria so as not to be disqualified.

Ms. Vigonte suggested to combine readers theater and radio drama. Mr. Martinez implied that teachers
would do the reading. Students need to be trained if they are assigned given the limited time. It is impossible
as of this time. Ms. Domingo seconded.

Ms. Rufo presented some of her ideas after the others. She said that it will be recorded then we will
present it on live after we have checked the video recording. Since there is a problem with Google Meet
recording, we may use Microsoft Teams. In line with this, Ms. Casulla butt in by saying screen recording can
be used. Mr. Martinez said we can also use FB Live for automatic recording. Ms. Casulla continued by saying
that English Club page may be used as well. Ms. Annabelle M. Ronquillo approved the suggestion as the
English Club adviser. Ms. Domingo said we need to be discreet with the story to be used. She recommended
to coordinate with Ms. Justo since she knows good story titles.

The process will be “Read. Pause. Ask questions.” It can be “making predictions” questioning. As a final
consensus, the following were decided by the body.

- The recording will be done thru Google Meet or FB Live

- For storytellers in Grades 7-8, it will be Ms. Rivera.
- For storytellers in Grades 9-10, it will be Mr. Martinez.
