Good Afternoon class! Good Afternoon Ma’am!

How are you this afternoon? We’re fine, thank you.

Well, it’s good to hear that.

Are you ready for our new discussion this

afternoon? Yes Ma’am.

Very Good.

But before that, let’s have an activity first.

Our activity is entitled “The Inventors”, in
which all of you will act as an inventors. I
will group you into three groups. This group
will be the inventors coming from America,
the second group will be the inventors coming
from New York, and the third group will be
the inventors coming from Philippines. Now,
I have here a flashlight, radio and a match
sticks. The first group will be the inventors of
flashlights, the second group will be the
inventors of radio, and the third group will be
the inventors of match sticks. Now, this
afternoon we are going to have a world
conference in which each group are going to
introduce the things you are invented through
a yell and state its uses. I will only give you
three minutes to do the task and present it to
the press after. While the group are
presenting, the rest of the group will act as a
press in which you are allowed to raise Yes Ma’am.
questions to the inventors. (Pupils do as told)

Are my instructions clear class?

It is very interesting Ma’am.
1.2 Motivation

What can you say about our activity class?

It’s good to hear that.

Yes, Jam?

What are the uses of flashlights as mentioned The flashlights will use to light in the dark.

Yes, Amy?

Very Good.

How about the second group, what was the He thing invented by the second group was a

Yes, Mic?

Very Good.
The radio will be useful for listening music.
Now, what are the uses of radio as mentioned
on the yell of group 2?

Yes, Heart? The radio will be useful for listening news.

What else?

things they were invented?

Yes, Chloe?

Match sticks are useful for producing fire.

Now, what are the uses of match sticks as
mentioned on the yell of the third group?

Yes, Anton?
Yes, ma’am.
Very Good!

Did you see all of these things in your house

class?
No Ma’am.

But did you know what kind of energy these

things produce, class?
Light, Heat and Sound
2.Presentation

So be with me this afternoon, because we are

going to discuss about Light, Heat and Sound.

Everybody read.

Statement of the aim

Listen attentively because at the end of

the lesson you are expected to describe
how light, heat and sound travel;
investigate properties and characteristics
of light, heat and sound; describe ways to
protect oneself from exposure to excessive
light, heat and sound.

B. Activity

Let’s have an activity again.I will group you

into three groups. Now as you can see, we
have a three stations here inside the room.
The first station contain a black box with hole
and a flashlight, the second station contain a
speaker inside thebox, and the third station
has two stones. What you are going to do is in
the first station, you are going to turn on the
flashlight inside the box and observe what
will happen. In the second station you are
going to turn on the music and place it in the
box then hold it. In the third station, you are
going to rub the two stones together and place Yes Ma’am.
it in your palm. The first group will start on (Pupils do as told)
station1, the second group will start on station
2, and the third group will start on station
3.After 3 minutes, each group will proceed to
the next station until all the station will be
performed and observed.

Are my instructions clear class?

I observed that when we turn on the flashlight
and place it inside the box, the light travels
through the hole in the box.
C. Analysis

Now class based on our activity what have

you observed in the first station?

Yes Mica?
The light travels on a straight line.

Very Good.

Now, in what direction does the light travel?

Yes, Junard?

Excellent! I observe that when we turn on the music and

The light travels on straight line and it cannot place it inside the box, we still hear the sound.
bend around an object.
No Ma’am.
How about in the station 2, what have you
observe?

Yes, Dave?
Because as we observe, aside from light,
sound also travels.
Does the box stop the sound?

Why do you think so?

Yes Joan?
I feel that there is a vibration Ma’am.

Very Good.
Now what do you feel when you hold the
box?
Because of the vibration Ma’am.
Yes, Jee?

Very Good.

Now what do you think why we hear the

sound?

Yes, Jocelyn? We feel a heat Ma’am.

Fantastic!
The sound transfer through vibration.

Now what about the last station, what do you

feel when you rubbed the two stones and Maybe because the two stones produce heat

Very Good.

What do you think how it happen?

Yes Ma’am.
Yes Amy?

Very Good.
Heat transfer from an object of higher
temperature to an object of lower temperature.
Light- is an electromagnetic radiation of any

radiation that is visible to the human eye.
D. Abstraction
Heat- is produced when there is energy
Class I have hear a definition of light, heat transformation and it is transferred from the
and sound. hot object to the cold object.

Everybody read. Sound- is generally a term that is used to

describe when something is heard by the
ear.

Light travels fastest because it does not bend.

Now class which travels fast, light heat or

sound?
Light travel faster than the sound and heat
Yes Jerry? because it travels on a straight line.

You have an idea.

What else.

Yes Josie?
It is very important because it enable us to see
things.

lives?
Yes Dave?

Very Good. Sound is very important because it allow us

Yes Boiyet?

Very Good.

How about sound? Heat is important because life on earth

Yes Marlyn? depends on heat energy for survival. Like for
example in ironing and drying our clothes.

Very Good.

And how about heat?

Yes Jennylou?
One way to expose ourselves ma’am I to wear
a jacket and an umbrella if it is to hot outside

Very Good.
But class too much exposure to sound, heat
and light can cause damage in our body. Now We should wear an eyeglass ma’am to

Yes Anna?

We should cover our ears if the sound is too

What else?

Yes, JD?

Excellent.
What else?

Yes, May?
Yes Ma’am.

Very Good.
One way to protect ourselves from exposure
to excessive light, heat and sound is just avoid
ourselves in exposing if the light, heat and
sound is already too much. And if there is
already a symptoms, we should visit the
doctor immediately.

E. Application

Activity 1 Yes Ma’am.

Directions: I will group you into three

groups. I have here three envelopes which
contain a tack the you are going to do. All you
have to do is to perform the task inside this
envelope and get the materials you needed
here in the table. I will only give 5 minutes to
do the task and afterwards, present your
observation in the class.
Am I understood class?

First Envelope
Materials: Mirrors
Instructions:
 Get a partner.
 Each pair must have one mirror.
 One student should be facing the
shiny side of the mirror; the other
student should be facing the non-
reflective side.
Answer the following questions:
1. If you can see yourself in the mirror,
describe the mirror properties you
observe. shiny, silver, very smooth.
2. If you cannot see yourself in the
mirror, describe the mirror properties
you observe. dull, gray, slightly
textured.

3. Can you always see yourself if you are

facing the shiny side of the mirror?

4. Could you see yourself in the mirror if

it were very dark, such as if it were
night or if you were in a closet?

Instructions:
 Pluck a rubber band stretched over the
opening of a tissue box guitar.

produce the sound.

Third Envelope:
Materials: cup of warm water and ice cubes Yes Ma’am.
Instructions:
 Put the ice cubes on the warm water.
 Observe what will happen to the ice
cubes and to the warm water.

Activity 2

Stay in your group. Let’s go outside the

classroom. List all the things which produces
light, sound and heat energy. And identify its
properties and characteristics. Afterwards,
present it in front. I will only give you five 1. light
minutes to do the task.
